If only it were that simple, if only some people didn't get choose to get 'upset' at the most ridiculous of things (like, say, facts).
As said earlier, if only some people would just get on with their chosen massively minority lifestyle without expecting the rest of us to change in accordance with their 'needs'. That's the real issue (and yes, it is only some, but some of those some are very good at making noise about it, and they are foolishly given way too much oxygen, because that's how the media and social media work nowadays).

But it is that simple.
If you haven’t been asked to use a particular word you use what you think is sensible and respectful, and if you have been specifically asked to use, or not to use, a particular word because it would upset someone, then do so if you can remember to.
It’s literally that simple.
If you don’t you’re deliberately choosing to upset someone and no one who is a pleasant person would do that.

Us plumbers have loads of items we use that the PC/****ers have tried to change and have at the likes of Screwfix, Ball Cock, now a float valve for the obvious one, plumbers Black, nipples, male and female unions, long screw, strap on boss, I could go on there’s dozens of them, all made up by a bloke at some point.
