So this season we have bought Nunez, Gakpo, Ramsay and Carvalho, combined initial spend of roughly £115m We got around £100m-£110m for reaching the CL final. Where'd the rest of last seasons prize money and profit go?
I'm still not prepared to write this season off. If you give up halfway through, what's the point of supporting the team in the first place. That said, I'm hugely frustrated with the lack of forward planning which is mostly about signings but also the mindset that appears to be we can keep this team going and going. I still can't put it all on FSG because we don't know how much the lack of signings is on Klopp and maybe Ljinders. Aportioning blame without any information is futile. We are all seeing the same thing, an aging, seemingly worn out team but it's how you deal with seeing that that is splitting the fans. I remain optimistic.
If it's FSG then I blame them and Klopp,FSG for not making available the funds necessary and Klopp for not using his position of power which he obviously has to get the funding.
If I'm reading this right (I'm a bit slow these days) you're saying that if FSG aren't giving him funds then Klopp should be kicking up a stink to get the money to buy some players. The bit that's missing from that take - and what we absolutely don't know - is that Klopp may be the one being stubborn and not wanting to bloat the squad out but instead want fewer, higher quality players. The money could well be there. It's why I said we can all see the results of what's going on but we don't know who is responsible or even if they themselves feel there is anything to be responsible for - other than when Klopp takes responsibility for poor results. He honestly doesn't sound like he thinks he needs more players.

It's mad isn't it. We talk about not being able to attract players if we don't make top four despite being hugely successful and having the best manager in the world, yet here's Chelsea in a lower position than us, with a manager most of these signings will have never heard of, collecting them like they're trying to complete their Panini sticker book.
Maybe, But a) how much are they paying these players, over the top no doubt b) nobody else was either interested or willing to spend what Chelsea were. c) Chelsea are still in the CL and will think they can get top4 will all the new signings Most of their buys have come from clubs that are in 'lesser' leagues If (IF) were going to get into a tug-of-war with Real over Bellingham, then not having CL is a major detractor.
whoa there mate. let's be clear. mane 30mil Williams 17mil minamino 12mil supposedly 10mil on grujic was delayed to this season to help proto and smooth the diaz move Davies 5mil I make that about 83mil taken in to fun above transfers you ought to be asking where the hell is all the money. never mind balancing buys with cl profit. BTW. the accounts must be published each tlyear by Premier league rules by March 1 when the profit level of lfc becomes clear to fans there's going to be an explosion of rage online just say'n
Anything is achievable with Klopp at the helm, he’s proved it again and again so still looking forward to getting this squad going in the second half of the season. Frustrating but it’s done now, we’ve got what we’ve got, so let’s give it a go as the big man would say
See the one thing Klopp doesn't want is mercenaries. He's said so several times, not using the word mercenary but saying that any player who doesn't want to come to the club for lack of European football, is a player he doesn't want. He wants players who want to come to the club because of the club that it is in the same way that he did. It's all sort of the same conversation; he has an almost unique way of managing a team and it's not about buying success. He wants to work our way into things and work our way out of things. Last season we worked our way to success; this season we're working our way out of mediocrity.. You could get the sense that he is a frugal person in his every day life. He probably only has two pairs of shoes and that's because his missus insists on him not taking her out while wearing trainers.
This would fit the narrative too. FSG have always said they don't work in budgets. If a player is available, they'll way it up and dump up if appropriate. Klopp as maintained that teams should be built, not bought. He's also on record saying he prefers a smaller squad.
Why would FSG invest now in an asset that they clearly want to sell in the coming weeks? Let’s hope we have new owners by the next window because we need to be ready to spend big in the next window.
Would you try to sell a car with a flat tyre, or get it fixed first so it's easier to sell? (We have two flat tyres and no spare atm.)
