It is quite hard to identify a more experienced player that may fit in with how we play and operate. I am sure Mowbray will want one in that brings at least 150 games experience. Somebody like Jay Fulton from Swansea would be a good fit style wise I think. Tough deal to do so late in the window though. Would we accept Jack Colback back? Could probably get him out of Forest on a loan, cost dependant. Does Mowbray to back to Blackburn for Buckley? The more I think about it the more I think it would be worth just giving the younguns the run of it and see where they take us.
I wouldn't touch Colback tbh. The Buckley talk went quiet pretty quickly but you never know with the Blackburn links we have

he’s very much attack minded tho rather than box to box. He’s definitely not an evans replacement. He wouldn’t play in the midfield 2.
Didn't say he was Evans replacement. I said with Forest seemingly bringing in a central player would that release Konate.

Having now come down from yesterday's magnificent performance, I'm more gutted than ever about Ross's injury. Can't stop thinking about what might have been this season as he looked like scoring every game and was still improving all the time. Hope to god we get a decent replacement. It'll likely be Simms, but he's miles off Stewart's standard imho.
On our day we can outclass any team in this division, but we need someone finding the net with all the chances we create.

quicker everton get somone up front the quicker simms will be back
Even if they don't, he's not going to play. They are stunting the lad's development

Aug-Dec - playing every week, scoring goals
Jan- sit on bench getting splinters

Why no to Colback? Newcastle stuff? He was key in Forest promotion push last year and the Forest lads I know say he was a leader and influence. 33 so maybe still has a bit in him yet. Would see him as a Leadbitter type personally. Very unlikely I would imagine and I just hoying names about. Personally happy enough to let our bairns keep tearing it up.

Went to the Brighton vs Liverpool game today, (great game) I’m a season ticket holder there as I live there. I see a lot of similarities between Brighton and us, as in buy young cheap talented players, improve them and sell them on for a huge profit (which I know we’ve not done yet, but I’m sure it will happen with the players we have).
Problem is though my Brighton mates are worried that they will never get to where they want to be if they keep losing their best players and surely they can’t keep finding unknown gems for peanuts.
I’d be happy if this was us in a few seasons, trouble is though would you accept it or be mightily pissed off that you keep losing your best players.

Agreed, it is likely the injury will turn out to be more important than the game yesterday

No, not the Newcastle link. I just don't think he is a very good player tbh and wouldn't fit with our current style. I doubt he is a 'leader' type of character as well.

No. That would be a very bad move. And yes, it's the "Newcastle" thing

It's all about upscaling though. Instead of selling your best players for £10m like we might, Brighton can sell for £60m. Instead of bringing in players for pennies like we are, Brighton could spend £20m on a ridiculous prospect out of Brazil etc. The top of the scale will be Dortmund. They are the club who spends £30m+ on huge young talents and then eventually let them go for £100m+.

You're never going to regularly win trophies in England like this simply because the big teams are nation states or huge corporations. All you can hope to do is be competitive enough that when one of the giants have a bad year, you can capitalise. It's sad but that's the reality of football now.

In my opinion is not possible to keep unearthing hidden gems like Stewart. Last time we did similar was Kevin Phillips and that was more than a quarter of a century ago. It's working at the minute because we basically had "bottomed out" and were scratting around for the likes of McFadzean and the only way was up.
