Genuine question mate, and not being am arse, but a month or so back you were saying Dan Neil wasnt good enough. Have you changed opinion at all? I ask because I think whether we think we promotion is a good thing depends on how much you think our young lads are able to improve quickly. In my opinion we have a core of premier league level players and the bottom half of the premier league is terrible. If we went up now I think the following would flourish Cirkin Ballard Neil Michut Clarke Roberts Stewart Patterson poss Hume poss Huggins poss I could see Diallo being here again We would be attractive for 3 or 4 top loan players. We would surprise a few in my opinion
Various managers have kept, and played, the likes of Gooch, O'Nien, etc, often despite the wishes of supporters ... ... step forward Dajaku.
He played his part , although I did think if anyone had to make way for us to move on it was him, ( or Gooch by the way ) but I can also see the pitfalls that worry TM, too many players finding their feet at once rarely works , and can result in a sharp loss of confidence. To avoid this we need the experience of Wright, Gooch and Pritch around to steady the ship, even if they only play supporting roles similar to Evans, shame Leadbitter and Catts couldn't have lasted another year or two.
We would probably struggle in the PL if we went up this season but the experience would stand our players in an amazing place for kicking on. Also just think what our recruitment team could do with PL money - they would sign some even more exciting youngsters. I agree with most of your players that you have suggested to flourish in the PL - I would add Alese & Ba to the list as he will be class. Michut I'm still not sure about but he has the technical ability to play at that level. I think Patto could become a solid PL GK and I think if Hume could add a yard of pace then he will be a solid option in the PL. I don't think huggins will be PL but I hope I am wrong as seems a great lad. I have no doubt what so ever that Neil will be the best of them all followed by Ballard & Cirkin
Luton have also just signed a very highly rated young Leeds player on loan. Drameh will slot straight in at RB for them after losing Bree to Southampton yesterday
Another club in melt down, we were very close to it tbh its nothing to gloat about either as all football is the looser in this mad scramble for "success measured in silver ware" .
Agreed. No interest in being the next Norwich. Happy to stay in this league for a year or two, knowing we’ve got a chance of winning any game. I still have scars from our last Prem tenure. Apart from the derbies and an odd game here or there, we stunk out the league for the majority of a decade.
