Bajcetic signs new four year deal and Owen Beck recalled from Bolton loan.

beck didn't get enough games as I don't think he'd be solving any eufa squad issues???

given our situation only a 4 year deal seems light and a little myopic. he's good enough that a 6 year deal would get us to 24 and not be any issue

Tbf not many players/agents will want a 6 year deal.

Deal takes him to 22 and if he’s playing well will get a big pay rise (although prob get another new deal in 2 years if he’s playing well).

It’s the thing I don’t get with the 7/8 year contracts chelsea dishing out. Unless has some salary increase clause or on like 250k a week that these players don’t think would ever normally reach, these zero benefit in it for the player as lose all their bargaining power to try get a pay rise in a few years if they’re playing well

A lot of these players think they've won the lottery

Carney Chukwuemeka is on 100k a week, barely started a career.

Mudryk is also on the same. Zero thought to next contract when the pay rise and chance at glory is massive now

Tick... Tock... Tick.... Tock...

Guess we're not getting a midfielder this January. I know prices are higher in winter... But what's the price of not qualifying for Champions League and so not being able to attract top stars?

For Chelsea, its a loophole in ffp, that means they can spread the transfer fee and signing fee across the whole of the contract.

For the player, I suppose they've probably negotiated big deals to compensate for the length of the contract. And if they do want a pay rise, they'll hand in transfer requests and either get their way or move on.
Chelsea aren't a club that inspires loyalty in players and I guess most of the players will know they'll probably be sold on eventually anyway cause that is recent history of Chelsea.

I'm sure it is partially the reason for Chelsea's poor performances too.

so if they close the loop hole now, only Chelsea benefit? Ffs <doh>

Anyone who has abused the system as it stands will benefit

Chelsea are the ones people have noticed (or Chelsea are the only ones who noticed the the loophole, lawyers reading the fine print)

Thats why Uefa want to change the rules, cause they've only just noticed that Clubs can abuse the loophole.

But it does mean that a club is tied to paying that player over the long contract and of course not every player will work out.
Or the sell at what would probably be a lower fee.

I mean you could end up with a Bale at Real situation, A player who is contracted being paid a truck load of weekly wages and ends up sitting on the bench not wanting to transfer as they're getting a truck load of money over alot of years.
