It was one of a number of sites looked at for student places years ago. I only know this for fact as I was in a meeting with a contractor for another job in Leeds when he took a call about it from the client and he knew I was from hull and he asked me about the site whilst on the phone and if it was visible etc .... I told him it would never ever get passed by the local council etc so not to waste time on it

At the time, there wasn't many ( if any ) other student places bar the houses round uni, the lawns etc... It was before all the new places where built at uni. I told them at the time it was odd location for student accommodation, but potentially a really nice place for something to be done. I remember saying to him at the time it would stay exactly the way it currently was for years and years as our local council were useless ( or something that ment that haha )

Philip Akrill, Manor's owner, was probably too busy to update it after having a six year ban from serving as a director of any company slapped on him. Even if he did get permission to demolish the Lord Line building he'd probably struggle to find a contractor unless he paid up front. The Rank Hovis Mill was one of Manor's properties, and the first demolition contractor pulled out when they weren't paid for work done.

he has one of the worst reputations in uk construction he doesn’t make his money through construction now…land banking….the land sourced cheap 20 years ago is now starting to get sold on for potentially big bucks

Defo heard that a reason why it didn't go ahead was that it was deemed to be unsafe with the likelihood of someone falling into the dock, but has you point out it could have been made up and managed to get reported as a genuine concern. Wouldn't surprise me if that was the case, to be fair.

What, with all the detritus on the side of the A63, Lord Line and that above mention monstrosity it really doesn’t give a great impression of our great city.

Bradford Council has been urged to stop Keighley being the “forgotten town” and scrap plans to close its tip.
A petition signed by thousands of residents opposing the tip closure was presented to Bradford Council last night. Initially the petition had not been accepted by the Council, with officers arguing that although there had been thousands of names, there were no actual signatures.
