If I remember correctly, they have blocked a couple of planning applications from manor to do something with the building/area before. It's a complete embarrassment for the city and imo massively disrespectful to the cities fishing past and the people who lost their life's for the whole area to be left like it is!

They blocked permission because it has no road access, a different owner* owns the land around it, and the last proposal was for demolition. I'm of the opinion it's only fit for the bulldozers now. It's not even that historic, opened in 1949 and closed in 1975.

    * From memory it's a vet!

It's to far gone to be saved now I'd say, but something should be done with the area, but that's been the case since it's closure. The entrance to our city really is piss poor once you pass under the Humber bridge

Agreed but it's split between two owners, and the council can only compulsory purchase if it has a firm plan for what would go there.

Shouldn't be to difficult to come up with a plan for even Hull's council

Perhaps if we were Kingston upon Thames with their financial settlement, and business rate income. :emoticon-0100-smile

    Correct.
The access is, or used to be, owned by the bloke who owns Swanbridge vets.
I think he bought it with a small % of a bill he charged me once! <laugh>
Not sure that was the only reason plans were turned down, but must have been a factor

I think there's actually three parties involved in the whole site, Manor, the vet and a third that owns a smaller part (maybe ABP?). Jimmy Chu once explained the situation to me, but it was years ago and I've forgotten what he said.

Manor never had any realistic plans, they've just filed various things to try and prevent HCC from taking action against them. They're happy to just leave it until it's so shagged that everyone gives up on anything but demolition.

It depends which application you're referring to, but the reasons are posted on the web and don't seem to include the road access issues.

This one lists other applications and their outcomes.

Is this thread about the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre? What about access to Dixons?

Apparently, someone attempted to break into the Aldi store opposite Sutton Fields pub on Sutton Road, last night. Then moved on to Ennerdale sports centre. Got in through the roof. According to staff the culprit caused a lot of damage, which resulted in glass falling into the pool, so no swimming for the time being. Honestly, what is it with these people? Throw the key away.

PS.. Don't get me started on those wasters at HCC.
On the Lord Line site, wasn't there a proposal to build student flats, but the council planning turned it down because someone might fall into the dock....Honestly, you couldn't make it up.

similar to the people who ram raided shops in ope
they do it becasue they don't care if they go down for 2 years

the sentences are just far far too lenient
so all these crimes continue happening at a greater rate

I've posted links to the planning decisions. Can you post one that shows the one that was turned down for the reasons you claim?

There is a reference in this HDM piece about an application for the student flats...
Though my memory ain't what it used to be, I'm sure I heard that it was rejected for the reason I referred to on an interview that took place on Look North.

I only had a very quick look, but I couldn't find anything in the on-line stuff that supports what you said. I would well imagine that a developer would appeal if it was knocked back on the grounds you say, especially given there isn't even any water in the dock, and there are plenty of other properties near water.

I suspect you've either misheard, or someone was in deed making it up for TV.

Why would they build student flats there anyway? Sounds like bullshit
