Dodged a bullet with Wood if they can recoup half what they paid for him imo. they have over the years been very lucky in the market even while giving away players like Toney and Barlaser, the massive fees for Carrol, Wijnaldum and Sissoko almost 90 m for those three being an example.

I’m not sure they’ve dodged a bullet, after wages they’ll have still spent about £15m on him for 12 months! Could probably argue that they stayed up, but they could’ve bought a league two striker for next to nothing to have the same impact Wood did last season. Recouping something is better than nout like. I’m surprised they didn’t pay a massive fee to loan a decent striker and pay their wages instead of giving him £85-90k a week, would’ve still been cheaper.

We've all seen decent players come to Sunderland who've been terrified to step out in front of a 40,000 crowd ...

... we don't need any more freezing once they leave the dressing room. The lads we currently have seem fearless.

If potential signings don't have the heart it's best for them to go to quiet little clubs, like Wigan, where they can plod along with no pressure and be a big fish in a tiny pool.

Wood was bought for one reason and that was to weaken any chance Burnley had of avoiding the drop and as such improve mags chance of staying up, clever.

Was it as much to weaken a relegation rival in Burnley and if he scored a few all the better?

My point being, is, if we had bought him a year or two back , we would have had to pay him to leave.

They all sound overly desperate to me.

hang on Nixon’s word until he says he isn’t going there…. Nixon is confident so who knows who’s right

Were there any firm links with us and Undav or was it just speculation Blackburn seem to think he’s heading there

there was definitely something in it based on his Instagram post last night with Ekwah. Whether that means it’s still possible or if it fell thru I guess we will find out in the next week

They've played in the same age france set up for many years so I imagine they're friends. Impossible to suggest something was "definitely" in it based off of that post.

I sense a good few people having a go at Bob recently. It's been bubbling for a while now.
