Talking to someone who knows more than AA & CC told me that Warnock was never on but they were happy to let that take that away from the man they want. Things are very close but not 100%, told me I'd be very happy if they get him. Like all other people who think they are in the know, you either take it or leave it. Me I'm not sure.
I just hope this doesn't become a protracted affair. As important is getting a vision for the club established. Not just 'we want to be in the premier league', but an ethos for the club, a brand of football, continuity of style. I don't mind ongoing evolution of style, I'm not averse to change, but the constant revolution, lurching from style to style is very inefficient. We decide we want to play a passing game but we've got hoofball players. We want to play hoofball but we've just recruited passing players. Every manager that comes in needs to 'overhaul the squad'. That change takes money even if big fees are not paid and every change costs us points as we 'bed players in and gel'. We'll never re-establish ourselves as a top end championship side (not been that for some time) or win promotion on the current trajectory. You look at the Brentfords, Brightons, Bournmouths of the world and they've built steadily. To be fair to the Jacks, they've had some bumps in the road, but they've largely had that continuity of vision so recruited managers tend to be a better fit.
As the Luton game is off (it would have been next Saturday but they’re in the Cup 4 round that day - as we are if we beat Leeds) there’s more time available to source a new manager BUT the time for window is still very limited.
We are home to Millwall on Saturday. Luton away was Saturday 28th. Unless appointed before Millwall we have another 2 weeks but the window ends in that time.
https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...kCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar An interesting read on Ismael. Seems to have a very rigid attitude to team selection and tactics with little or no scope for variation if things don't work. Maybe we need that for the rest of the season if only for survival although the right players are needed to fit his system. I'm not sure the likes of Philogene and Etete will fit with that. What the article doesn't mention is: - A. His teams have achieved little in terms of promotions etc and, B. He rarely stays beyond a year or so with any club and seems prone to falling out with club off field management and owners. Looks like he is very single minded with, dare I say it, a bit of a temper. For more detail on his career and, in particular, his managerial roles, search him on Wikipedia. Finally, his christian name, Valerien? Was he in Game of Thrones?
BV has got him drifting out to evens from an odds on position. Funny thing is both Manning and Ismael have drifted out to 6's and 8's - nobody shortening and coming up on the rails - yet!
Just had a look at where the money is going - Tony Pulis @ 33/1 way out ahead with over 44% of the money laid so far.
Warnock's comments on 5Live. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport...kCopy&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=sharebar Says he's not been contacted but doesn't rule it out.
Looks like you’ve dodged the McCarthy get together then, poor old Blackpoo, beggars can’t be choosers
We don't know who we will have yet. All sorts mentioned, none immediately impressive. Some 2022 year old bloke called Jesus may be needed to keep us up.
