.....has been handed Sir Ashbee's number 4 shirt.

Considering we have had differing debates as to whether or not the shirt should be retired, what does everyone make if it being given away to a player who belongs to another club and is here short term?

Surely there are plenty of other numbers he could have been given?

Is this the final insult to Ashbee?

It's a bit much, you'd think they'd let Hobbs have his own name on his back. I guess it's down to the state of the economy.

No insult at all, it's time to move on. Ash is a legend at City for what he did but now it's over like all good things. This sort of thing happens all the time in football.

I wonder if someone could interview Jack to see what he thinks of these decisions? It could be titled Hobbs on Choice?

How odd. When I view it, the word "title" is repeated but when I click to edit it's only there once.

If we were on CI, there'd be a packet of HobNobs on here by now.

Why should we respect Ashbee and his number 4 shirt when the fat twat gave the finger to the East Stand and he ran off the pitch at full time after losing like a big Brummie girl (no offence to Brummies meant)

He is getting on a bit, had 2 serious injuries, looked unfit, played rubbish this season and was not part of the managers longer term goals.....he had to go, he knew he had to go and now he is sulking about it.

Get over yourselves, its a team game and he is not part of the team anymore.

Personally I would have given it to Rory....both have a similar frame these days.

S'just a number. Its what's inside that counts, and I'm sure young Hobbsy will do his best for what is important, the club, not the number 4.

Also, I do agree with Westy's post too tbh, it wasn't exactly just Ash giving everything to the club, we looked after him way better than anyone else would have, and I'd love to have a fraction of the money he earnt in Hull.

I have said before I dont like squad numbers, Players should wear 1 to 11.
But if we are stuck with squad numbers at least do it where it can only be registerd once per season, so ie only ashbee can wear 4 for city this season and have to wait for next to use it again.

The word LEGEND is so over used nowadays. ****inhell the OP is even arguing over it as a username on another thread.
Ash was No4 when he played for us, he is now gone - Deal with it.

Not bothered, players come and leave all the time. If the number is available, it can be chosen.

He has number 25 with us.

He had the option of number 5 but didn't take it so it might be his lucky number.

Does someone else occupy that shirt?

    That'll be why then.

Hobbs was pretty good under Pearson and could well be a top player.

But, he hasn't shown any signs of progress since last season and won't ever make a captain as he isn't a shouter and a screamer.

He is a good, steady, professional footballer who will do well for you lot and I wish him all the best.
