    Match Preview;
Swansea City manager, Russell Martin, joined the Swans from MK Dons in August 2021, and led them to a 15th place finish in his first full season. Interesting to note that at the end of the 2020/21 season, the top three teams Europe, in terms of average possession, were Man City, Barcelona then MK Dons. An impressive stat, that says a lot about the style of play Martin implements. If our lot stands back and gives them time on the ball, they'll have been trained to keep possession, and not give us a sniff. Russell will, I'm sure, be hoping his career path is similar to that of the last two Swansea managers, who are now managing in the Premier League, Cooper at Forest and Potter at some other club. Their coaching team also includes another ex-Ranger, Dean Thornton, who was head goalkeeping coach at our academy (https://www.linkedin.com/in/dean-thornton-026b8338/details/experience/)

Their top scorer so far this season is Joël Piroe with 10 goals. They also have Michael Obafemi in their squad, who I always thought was a prolific goalscorer, but he only has 3 so far this season, and some experience in Joe Allen, although he's only featured in around half their games so far this year. They've won 2, lost 2 and drawn 1 in their last 5, impressively beating Watford 4-0 in their last game of 2022. Edit: since this post, they also lost on Tuesday night, 2-1 to Bristol City in the cup, after extra time. Can surelt only be helpful for us that some of their players played 120 minutes midweek.

As for us, after getting a point at Reading, from 2-0 down at half time, we've now won 1, lost 1 and drawn 3 in our last 5. Jamal Lowe has come in, and doesn't look like a goal machine, but he is quick, and will hopefully inject a bit more pace in our attacks. Willock and Dykes are still our top scorers, with 6 each...and now Roberts has drawn level with Chair in second place, with 4 goals each. Ever the optimist, I look at the table and see that we are only 4 points off 6th, but that said, if we don't get a good run going, the season will be all but over for us...it is painful enough seeing Brentford flying high in the Premier League, so it'd be nice to at least finish above Luton!

    Team News

QPR: Skipper Stefan Johansen could return. Leon Balogun remains sidelined.

Swansea: Morgan Whittaker is in the squad after being recalled from his loan spell at Plymouth. Captain Matt Grimes is fit, but Liam Walsh isn't quite ready.

    Pre-match Talk
Neil Critchley (QPR head coach): "Swansea's performance against Watford (won 4-0 recently) shows you what they are capable of. They are an outstanding football team in the way that they play the game and they provide you with a unique challenge in this division.

"They have some top-quality players and I am sure Russell (Martin), like myself, would like to be more consistent to be competing at the top end of this division.

"We know what we are going to be facing, it will be a really tough game and they provide problems - but it is up to us to play our game and provide problems for Swansea as well.

"I am looking forward to it. We are at home, we need to improve our home form and it would be nice to give our supporters three points."

Russell Martin (Swansea head coach): "QPR have a really good squad, especially at the top end of the pitch. It will be a tough game.

"We are taking a lot of supporters and it will be a good atmosphere at a tight ground.

"We feel like we're in a good place. There have been some really good performances and results recently.

"The players are looking forward to it and we just need to keep building."

Enjoy all those who'll be at HQ on Saturday and as always...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

Good knowledge. I'm waiting for the tipping point, when I eventually get them all nailed, but you all keep coming up with more and more obscure past players. Of course, I'll finally get in nailed, and we'll get promoted, then I'll nail the Premier League clubs, and I'll have to get started on the European clubs when we get into the Europa League...then Champions League...

I may have bumped my head this morning. :emoticon-0138-think

I hope Critchley has watched how Swansea play out from the back and picks the team appropriately.
Embarrassing that I even need to ask the qtn but we need to do what Brentford did to us that time when they had people lined up on the edge of our box every time we took a goal kick. If we do our homework, we'll beat them. Simples!

I watched Reading v Swansea. My mate's a big Swans fan and was there and said same as me........... Suicidal defending.
Obviously something's working, though, as you'll finish above us. Piroe's the difference.
