Jeff Beck, one of the most influential rock guitarists of all time, has died at the age of 78.

The British musician rose to fame as part of the Yardbirds, where he replaced Eric Clapton, before forming the Jeff Beck group with Rod Stewart.

His tone, presence and, above all, volume redefined guitar music in the 1960s, and influenced movements like heavy metal, jazz-rock and even punk.

Beck's death was confirmed on his official Twitter page.

    RIP <rose>

I wasn’t the greatest follower of Jeff Beck but he was a massively influential guitarist/musician and an absolute joy to watch playing.
A giant and hugely respected man who is a true legend. RIP Mr Beck <rose>

As another Yardbirds fan, l acknowledge his efforts and his lifelong contribution to his craft.
Picture here with fellow Yardbird, Eric Clapton in 2010.
Beck spent most of his time playing Fender Stratocaster & Telecaster guitars, like the one below.
    RIP Jeff Beck

So sad hear this, from the mid 60s no other guitarist was as universally respected as Beck. Another entering the pantheon of all time greats. RIP...

Lisa Marie Presley, daughter of the late Elvis Presley, has died after she reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California.

Mother Priscilla Presley confirmed her death in a statement: “It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us.”

“She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”

The announcement came just hours after Priscilla Presley had confirmed that Lisa Marie Presley was rushed to the hospital earlier Thursday.

Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley, shared her father’s brooding charisma and followed him professionally, releasing her own rock albums in the 2000s, and making stage appearances with the likes of Pat Benatar and Richard Hawley.

    EARLIER
According to TMZ and other media, paramedics performed CPR on Presley before she was transported to hospital.

She was in critical condition and on life support, according to reports.

Los Angeles County paramedics were dispatched to a Calabasas home at 10.37am following a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest, according to Craig Little, a spokesman for the county’s fire department.

Paramedics arrived about six minutes later, Little said. A subsequent statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said paramedics performed CPR and “determined the patient had signs of life” before taking her to the hospital immediately.

TMZ reported she had been at the Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday night (Wednesday NZ time) in Beverly Hills with Priscilla. Austin Butler won a Globe for his portrayal of the King of Rock n’ Roll in the film Elvis.

In May, Presley took to social media to hail Baz Luhrmann’s movie about her late father and reflected on how much her son Benjamin Keough, who died in 2020 aged 27, would have loved the picture.

I've just seen that ex QPR director Brian Rowe has passed away.

    Brian Rowe RIP (qpr.co.uk)

I'm sure I've told this story about him before on here, but I think it bears re-telling. We were having a drink in the old season ticker holders' bar in SAR after a game and, when that bar closed, snuck into the Directors' bar. We we served one round, but when I went to get another, the barmaid said the bar was closed. 'He's getting served over there', I said, but she wasn't budging. 'C-L-O-S-E-D', she spelt out, which I thought was a bit uncalled for. We obviously had to leave and as we were walking down the stairs, my old pal Peter Lavers was complaining loudly about 'Coming down here for 40 years and they won't give you a drink', when a voice from behind us asked what had happened. This was Brian Rowe, a director at that time. When we explained, he said 'Come with me.' He then brought us back into the bar and told the barmaid to give us what we wanted. 'O-P-E-N', I said to her.

    Top man.

    RIP Brian.
