Blackburn are asking for £15m for Brereton Diaz despite him being out of contract this summer.

If a Prem club bites at that it should give us extra resolve to not accept anything this window for Stewart
He'll be gone I reckon, if he scores goals to keep a team up, it's a no brainer.

I'd say number 1 aim is to strengthen our attacking options
Keeper would be 4th or 5th aim IMHO
4th highest scorers in the league. I accept we desperately need a striker, probably 2, but we've coped pretty well without. Without Patto we have bass and Carney...

I was going to say we would surely just loan a young keeper on emergency loan if Patto got injured but I don't think we could if we have two back ups on books.

Would have to be a keeper who is just about retired for them to come and be behind Patto but still be decent enough if he got injured.

Patterson has been far from perfect, the goals we conceded away to Wigan and at home to WBA (particularly the 2nd one) were testament to this. There have been others too. Not slagging the kid, I think he's handled the step up brilliantly and can only improve. the point I'm making is that our season doesn't automatically fall apart with Bass in goal

Genuinely interested to see how this window goes. Gut feel is that Simms will be back, we will bring in another striker and experience in the middle of the park

I’ve got a gut feeling Simms comes back permanently undisclosed fee, to help fund an Everton brainfuck

Could not agree more, Carney and Bass are more than adequate as stand ins for Patto or even competition, all three have a future in the game, priorities lie elsewhere imo attack in particular needs strengthening where only LND can be called a central striker, and we also could do with a strong defensive mid field player , as Evans has never full convinced me in this role and should be regarded as cover only, if that..

agree with top point but not the second. Evans for me is our most important player other than Stewart. Neil is starting to reduce that impact as he learns how to play at the base of midfield. But for now Evans is so important. If we can replace him with somebody who can do that role better, great.
