Porro/Edwards Watch
Record (the Spanish one, not the Scottish one) are running with the double deal story now, quoting a €75m fee...which is just the combined release clauses

Porro Watch
...AS, meanwhile, report we're willing to offer €40m for Porro as that somehow gives Sporting a better cut of the fee than paying the €45m release clause

McKennie Watch
Corriere della Sera have not only reminded me how hellish their name is to type, but also stated that Weston McKennie has rejected an offer from Bournemouth because he wants to join us - however, Calcio Mercato Web report that Villa are trying to do a swap deal with McKennie and Leander Dendoncker

Completely random link of the day: The Boot Room are linking us with Universidad de Chile's 17 year old RW Dario Osorio, with an £8m fee quoted

The fact he's a goalscoring, left-footed RW has me not entirely ready to dismiss this out of hand as that does fit with our recent trend of wide players, but this still feels like a Football Manager move more than a real one

£45 mill for a player the manager probably sees pivotal in his set up

that’s the going price nowadays

we need him

just pay the money

And with perfect timing...

The obvious question to ask is whether we want Sarr to potentially be in a second relegation scrap in a row, because while Salernitana are currently in 14th on 17 points so are clearly a step up from Metz last season as they were abysmal, there's four points difference between Lecce & Empoli in 12th/13th and Spezia in 17th - although given 17 points is currently a decent buffer between Salernitana and 18th-placed Sampdoria on 9 (while Cremonese and Verona have even fewer)

Porro Watch
Record (the Portuguese one, etc etc) claim that we've offered £85k a week wages, which is more than triple the £27k Sporting are paying him

On the one hand it's a real show of faith to offer that right out of the gate, which definitely isn't related to Barca reportedly sniffing around him...but then again, as Emerson is reportedly on £60k and Doherty on £75k, I can sort of see why we'd be offering wages that blow what they make out of the water

Mirror linking us with Jordan Pickford.

Telegraph and Ekrem Konur linking us with David Raya.

Both summer moves.

Makes sense, both into the last year of their contract come June.

I'd prefer Pickford though, vastly more experienced both at domestic and international level. I think he's an excellent keeper with better distribution than Hugo but tbh probably has more errors in him simply because he is a more 'explosive' player who will attempt the unexpected.

I also like how he gives his defenders an absolute bollocking every time they screw up (which is dozens of times a match at Everton). One of Hugo's weakest points is how quiet he is, especially for a captain. I'd love to watch Dier getting an absolute mouthful for slicing a clearance.

Both are 27/28 so wouldn't be as long term as Hugo turned out to be, but we'd still get 4-5 seasons at the top of their abilities.
