Seen a few post criticising both Marcus and Gordon on here the last few days.

For those of you who are vocal about the perceived "mod injustice" please answer this question.

Who else would you suggest has the patience to put up with us pack of reprobates? I'd ban the ****ing lot of ya just so i could win the prediction league.

I remember one time Nads was sick of the infighting between Sunderland and Newcastle, so he set up an unmoderated thread. After an initial outburst, it died a death within a day or two.
Surely if a mod doesn’t want to do the job, they could just pack in?
I’m an infrequent visitor on here, don’t mind the mods. I’ve missed all the “bother”, but I’d wager it was Comfy who caused it.

Never had or have any problems with the mods.

I still maintain that if you act civil, treat people respectfully and never intentionally look to get people to bite, and then are also able to just ignore anything that doesn’t interest you, then it shouldn’t really matter to you at all who the mods are.

I’ll add there’s a difference between “looking to get people to bite” and “asking provoking questions / offering altarnate views”. The latter are healthy. It’s when it’s done for fun that it causes trouble, and usually the person doing it then acts the innocent party as they don’t think they’ve done anything wrong

It seems to me the other boards have some moderators that are as fond of causing trouble as the members they are meant to be moderating!

To be honest I missed the main thread that started it all but it's still rumbling on now.

Honestly I couldn't care less about Mags coming in for a bit of banter etc... what indont appreciate and most others probably agree is Mags who make a new account to pretend to be one it our fans asking stupid questions to try and get some quotes to run off with saying look how deluded this lot are.

The should we expand the capacity of the SOL has been a recent one followed by should we not have expanded the capacity a week later when the original got no bites!

Apart from having a post deleted a few months back and not being given any sort of actual reason for it I've never had any problems with the forum moderation in over a decade posting

There's been very little need for any modification on here ...

... but we now have posters coming on specifically to cause trouble who aren't dealt with, in fact encouraged by and added to by Mods.

And meanwhile I'm being thread banned <doh>

    The Chunk thread so far.

Disgraceful that Mods are encouraging posters to cause trouble, insult people and post wind ups ...

... you'd think they'd be there to do the opposite.

So e obviously believe they run their own little kingdoms where decent lads like Chunks are just collateral damage to their egos.

I've been here since 2011 like loads of others, I enjoy the banter, don't go looking for trouble, appreciate the ITKs who try and enlighten us and just think it's a good place.
I've never looked at other forums as from what I can gather on here they're not worth the effort so why do others keep popping over to see what's what.
Can't understand why the thread which caused the problem wasn't blitzed straightaway but I really don't understand how the mods work and don't really need to know.
Keep it going lads without the drama, were in a good place club wise, and it's been a long time since we could say that, so HTL and do the business this afternoon.

Even if the subject/complaint was totally justified posting a thread, attacking a Mod, was clearly the wrong way to deal with it.

FFS man, grown men getting a little gang together <doh>

I really take exception to your thread and can't believe such awful spelling and punctuation has been allowed in the title!!!

I'm absolutely seething here, what are the Mods doing ffs :steam:

The fact it's been closed says it all tbh.

Then other people are accused of having agendas.

i have kept away from this because it seems to me that it was posted for nothing more than to see how far it would run.

mods have a job to do and have to make a quick decision on whether a post is indeed genuine, friendly banter or posted to grab as many 'bites' as possible...in all honesty, how many of us can recognise a 'malicious' post at first glance, yeh i agree some are so flaming obvious they should have saved the effort of typing them but most do not really start until a couple of pages have grown.

what i have found is on some forums (might be every one) there is an element of posters with a very high post count, these people tend to talk amongst the group and as we have seen on 'the other one' they derail most posts by turning them into a private chat, they also know if they have any problem they simply go and tell the rest of the group and they all come along to help, from slagging a poster off to attempting to wind some board up to get people barred...honestly, it is not worth the effort to keep talking about it, let it fade away.

people were asking why it was being allowed to continue and Marcus was accused of doing nothing so I can understand why he’d close it.

This started from some Premier League board bantz where a few well known posters and mag trouble makers planned to remove one of our Mods (GA). Tel posted a thread on our board with an anonymous poll so that they could all pile in and vote GA off. However the site owner BRB changed the poll to a public vote so that only SAFC fans could vote. It soon escalated from bantz into a full scale slagging match. Chunks and Blond Bombshell ventured on to the murky waters of the PL board and Chunks was offended by the use of certain words which was interpreted as an attack on his daughter.
Having seen what happened, the offending words were referring to BB but it had already gone too far and Chunks demanded BRB to delete his account.
It all came about from this:

A couple of years back the forum was really really quiet and then we had the sudden influx from RTG. Once that had settled and the new guys became regulars the place was busy again and recently, taking into account the upturn in Sunderlands fortunes, it's been pretty much trouble free. Mods do a very decent job. Long may it continue.

No issue with the mods, it’s not exactly difficult to not get banned on here. Just don’t be deliberately argumentative or take the bait from obvious wind ups.

I’ve had to use the ignore button quite a bit lately mind which can knacker up the threads a bit.

Saying that it’s obvious when someone is just trying to wind other members up and repeat offenders should probably get a ban.

    That's all fair mate.

However, when you have Mods backing up the WUMS and coming from their forums to argue with us on here it complicates things.

They should keep their noses out and hope their forums can, one day, be as good as this.
