But no, I agree with you. De Jong, Hoilett, defender (Ridgewell/Bassong for cover maybe or similar. Perhaps a new LB? Pieters/Cissokho spring to mind) would be ideal in January. (Hoilett if it's a pre-agreement like)

We play Ben Arfa as a withdrawn striker, so he has to count. If he plays there's it's always with just one other forward.

Hoillett would be class, I'd rather we pay a bit of money for him in January than lose out to a better side in the summer when they can poach him for nothing.

He's priced at 18mil, we wont pay that.

Ah yes, good point. =/ Damn, foiled again! That's the dream though really! Having Ba, Best, Maiga and De Jong as our 4 striking options! Blimey.

And yes, really wanna go for Hoilett too. I hope we talk to him in January and get a pre-contract agreement going though. Don't think we'd go for him for 18mil or whatever, doubt Blackburn are willing to sell cheaply. The difference between relegation and premier league football for them to be honest.
 
Forget striker competition, if we actually manage to get Hoilett we'd have the wingers to keep happy <yikes>

This, if he is all that is keeping them up they'll need to spend heavily in summer anyway. Better to sell in January for a fair price and pick up a couple of bargains to replace him and boost the squad.

Yeah I know, it is just a far cry from the situation in the summer. Agree though that we need to beef up our defence. Ideal January would be if we brought a striker, CB and LB and if Pardew can really woo Ashely perhaps another right footed RM.

I think Ashley would have a heart attack! We're apparently looking to offload a few players in January though, Lovenkrands and Harper were mentioned, probably Ranger if they can actually get money for him.

We really need to get rid of Ranger even if we just terminate his contract, he has got no future at the club. Lovenkrands seems like a decent guy and a good squad member but if he wants first team football then fair enough. Would be gutted if Harper left :(.
