Totally agree with that mate. Wrong substitution and similar bringing Amos on. Our set up got the best from dykes and had their defence all over the place. I was expecting to see Armstrong and Shodipo as the subs and keep on the front foot' to get the 2nd. Some great performances from Kakay, Field and Tim.
It's our own fault for taking the foot off the throttle and letting them have so much time and space on the ball for the last ten minutes
He was always going to play 6 minutes as Kakay's injury, the unseen elbow from Sharpe was right on the 90 minutes and game didn't re-start until the 91st minute......
I agree, it looked as if it was coming as soon s our shape changed. I don't blame Neil for wanting to defend that lead but reverting to how we started against Luton was ****ing bizarre.
It's a catch 22 scenario for managers in a situation like tonight. Do you go looking for the 2nd goal and concede, then get slagged for not being defensive enough or do you do what we did tonight which resulted in us conceding anyway?!?! Suppose I've always been a firm believer in not changing something that's working and working it was.
Gutted BUT outplayed 2nd in league for large part of the game, played entertaining and stylish football for a large part of the game and on another day would have held on for the win in the 6th minute of a 5 min ET. If that's a sign of NC beginning to sort it out, I'm OK with that. Crowd was able to play its part as there was lots to cheer. Gutted but hopeful too.
Sinclair would've forced them into retreating a bit or concede a 2nd. Poor old Uncle looks like he couldn't outsprint me these days ! We really should've been 2 up in tge 1st half with a bit more clinical finishing. I wish we had a poacher to play with Dykes instead of Roberts. Really that is that is missing from this team if that desire is shown regularly. Please Les, get in a proper striker and send Roberts back to torment Leeds !
Don't really see what was so bad about Roberts tonight? Infact against Luton, in the 2nd half, he was the best of a bad attacking force. Him, chair and Willock enabled Dykes to show what a handful he is. It was probably time for him to come off tonight but to replace him with Adomah was a shocking decision.
That's true if you make the right changes , but I don't think he did. Even if we'd won I'd think that. I'm not gonna be too despondent though after that performance. It warmed the cockles to see that effort from the boys, aided by a small cognac of course. Heartbeat got a little dodgy when they scored though and the tourettes kicked on a bit. Missus reckons she heard 23 ****ing ref twats, in 1 minute ! Almost a pb for me. Gutted twice now lol
I suppose Critchley bought on Amos as we were beginning to get over run in the middle of the park...... likewise with Uncs as Berger had moved over to the left to take on Ozzie who was struggling with a knock, so Uncs could double up with him.......... I just felt we needed an outlet last 10 minutes and the raw pace of Armstrong would have been useful as we dropped deeper and deeper and they played higher up the pitch...... But when you look at their side and bench and compare it to us, they were always going to finish stronger, it's just that so late for them to score is a bit hard to take....... The main question is where was that performance against Luton?
In my eyes he offers **** all mate. He's in the side because he's meant to score and assist goals ! Well , we know how that's going. Replace him with someone who could do either with reactive frequency and we'd win alot more games. I'd seriously like to see Dykes and Armstrong up top together with Chair and Willock either side like we did when we won our last 2 games in a few days under the traitor !
On reflection, it was a much better all round team performance tonight. I was willing the ref to blow the whistle so we could secure all three points. Dunne should've headed the ball out for a corner and I reckon that would've got us over the line, instead he kept the ball alive which lead to the equaliser. Just watched it back, on ninety minutes, five minutes time was added on. Kakay's injury meant that the game didn't restart until 91:17 was on the clock. They scored on 95:40. So effectively the ref was going to end the game on 96:17.
A real shame that Willock isn't back to where he was pre injury, cos we'd have scored another tonight before they equalised if he was. Don't know if we'll ever get to see him play at that standard again here at HQ.
Agree with all of that to be fair Bob. For once we looked threatening in the final third. We harried them and they looked dazed at first. We just sat back too far allowing them at us at the end. I know it’s a need to defend the lead, just felt we could have held the ball more when we took possession of it. I’m gutted as a fan, but also for those lads on the pitch tonight. But if you’d said we’d get a point, nearly a win or a performance like that I would have bitten your hand off before the game. More performances like that please Mr Critchley and the lads - and you’ll get your three-pointers.
Yes it's am absolute sickener, but there's not 1 person on here who wouldn't have taken a point pre kick off ! We just need to replicate that performance every game.
