The last transfer window was predicted, by many, to be a disaster and was a success because the club were working on deals ...

... there's no reason to assume this will be any different and I doubt the Simms recall came out of the blue.
That's the key part - you have to assume that the club assess these sorts of risks and have a plan to respond. This isn't like us getting caught with our pants down when Maja left

Because they will offer Simms part off the deal that's why.

Sorry but that doesn't make sense. They could have offered Simms as part of a deal without recalling him.

Recalling him and then saying "if you don't sell us Stewart, you won't get Simms back" doesn't really force us to do anything.

Didn’t Simms say the other day ‘if me and Stewart are allowed to continue…’ or similar?

Thinking back now sounds like he knew was possible (and that he’d rather have stayed).

He did you are right, I took it with the two of them up top together. But seems like that's the plan TM had, either they started or finished as a two. So maybe he knew it could happen.

I've got a feeling he will be disappointed, he seems like a sensible lad and right now we suited his development. He still gets same wage either way so height aswell be playing more minutes and at a level he is doing well in. He could always go back and try there next season and I'm sure that was his plan no rush from his perspective.

If they were interested in signing Stewart this would put them at an advantage against other clubs as they would know we couldn’t sell Stewart with no other striker in the squad. Therefore a part exchange offer would be potentially more beneficial than a straight cash offer from another club.
I don’t think that is the case but it is a possibility. I think it’s simply Everton are struggling and panicking and desperate for options. I like Simms a lot but he’s not ready for the Premier League, especially a relegation battle. I don’t think it’s the right move for them or him but he’s their player so well within their rights.

Disappointing to lose him but I’m confident we can get someone else in of a similar standard. Archer would be my preferred option but expect someone I’ve never heard of.

Has anyone really seen much of Archer? His name is always bandied around but I'm not sure if it's by people who really know his game

Yeah seen him a few time, pacey forward who I think could play wide left as well. Good work rate, really good close control and he's a decent finisher. Movement is good which is what stood out when I've seen him. He isnt the biggest but has enough upper body strength to play at Championship level
