Disappointing result. The period immediately after the City goal, it was good to watch, but they let Reading back into the game :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Not sure I agree that we let Reading back into the game. Don't think Reading would have scored from open play

Apart from the score, I'm broadly happy with that performance. Reading were lucky to get the penalty and even more lucky not to get a red card for the guy who brought down Pukki. The players looked far more up for it than they have under Smith.

I thought Núñez looked off the pace - what has happened to him? Sargent's lack of touch is an issue if we are not going to play him centrally. I thought Pukki was very good tonight except for the poor touch halfway through the first half. The clever little header to get the ball to Idah for the goal was an excellent bit of improvisation, as was the flick of the ball to get past the defender when he was brought down in what should have been a red card incident. The defence coped with Reading's aerial bombardment quite well. Gunn was superb in goal.

I didn't think he was the last defender but with only one angle available to view, it's hard to know for sure.
I believe there was one other player, perhaps no more than a yard closer (perhaps not even that much) to the goal

I thought there might have been another defender out to the left but wasn't sure. The replay didn't help.

Sorry folks to be a minority of 1 yet again but I didn't think we were much better than the previous 2 games - I just thought that Reading were worse than Luton or Blackburn and that was the difference.

But you did enjoy the way we played, right? I mean the energy, going forward, the excitement. I don't know that we have great players but this beat anything we've seen recently. I have to admit I missed the last 15-20 minutes of the first half with stream problems.

same here CS, lost it about 32nd minute, so a world wide problem it seems. Second half was much better. The penalty was very soft. Aarons more positive than of late, no DM but still coped very well defensively. At no time did Reading look like scoring from open play.

Thanks Dunc, but it was Gozo who posted the stream; not me.

Cheers Gozo :emoticon-0167-beer:

Actually, it was Walsh.i.am who recommended the site a few games ago, and I've used it since after the demise of hesgoal. So Walsh (is that the poster formerly known as Cromer?) deserves the praise.

But let's face it, we're all wonderful (well, almost all). :emoticon-0105-wink:

Disappointed that we only drew but there was a freshness , energy and bite to the play.

The defence looked tight Gunn was excellent and all 3 forwards combined for the goal and looked like they had a game plan.

More exciting than Smithball that's for sure and Russell remains unbeaten.

He has to be our hunkiest manager so far too a real dream boat

An entertaining game last night. When was the last time any of us could say that ? Players appeared committed and passed the ball at pace. What a refreshing change. As Duncan's latest man crush said, football is a simple game and it is our job to entertain. Thank you Alan and Steve for giving us renewed hope. By no means the perfect start but a big step in the right direction.
