It's very unusual and low key then? Do you think it can be solely put down to people taking a stand against Qatar or is it a lack of interest in the England National team, finances, close proximity to x.mas?? I've already said that I'll catch up with some of the games but due to work commitments and working 2-10 backshifts , they'll be few and far between.I usually get excited by the world cup but I've got no buzz about this at all...
I think it’s both. Wrong time of year, no build up, none of the usual end of season excitement followed by cup finals, and the short break that follows. And just the whole wrongness about it in general, and now all the **** that’s been coming out about it recently with the fake fans etc. just turning the whole thing into a laughing stock. It’s not a proper World Cup.
Yes I am. I really enjoy international football and will be watch all the England games and a fair few of the others. From a personal point of view Sweden didn't qualify as it makes the interest here even more muted than it seems to be in the UK.
Your last sentence probably sums it up best. For whatever reason "It's not a proper World Cup" just about says it all...
So,touching on fake fans and obvious lack of interest from England's faithful at home, has there been much interest in ticket sales by travelling supporters? I read this morning that Wales are taking 3000 fans over but I haven't heard anything about whether or not our fans are attending games? I would imagine it will be an expensive experience and fraught with a little bit more 'Danger' than is usual..
They're expecting 3-4,000 to travel to the group games and if we progress, the numbers will be much higher, despite the issues.
The actual difference between Budweiser and Budweiser Zero is yet to be established. Bud is made with rice FFS.
Someone from the FA said the decision to not pick him was purely on footballing grounds as Southgate hadn’t been informed of the allegations.
There was an article earlier this week showing streets in the Netherlands all decked out with flags, bunting and with buildings painted orange.
FIFA statement... “Following discussions between host country authorities and FIFA, a decision has been made to focus the sale of alcoholic beverages on the FIFA Fan Festival, other fan destinations and licensed venues, removing sales points of beer from Qatar’s FIFA World Cup 2022 stadium perimeters. There is no impact to the sale of Bud Zero which will remain available at all Qatar’s World Cup stadiums. Host country authorities and FIFA will continue to ensure that the stadiums and surrounding areas provide an enjoyable, respectful and pleasant experience for all fans. The tournament organisers appreciate AB InBev’s understanding and continuous support to our joint commitment to cater for everyone during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™️.”
I know. If there was a competition where a winner could spend a weekend in Hull or Amsterdam it would be a toughie.
