Yesterday , can’t agree on how the match played out with some. We sat in our first third almost the whole first half being pressed and coping with quick wing play by them & decent movement . We were poor apart from the goal and the odd breakaway . Second half we passed it around as we usually do - forever when we have no punch , I predicted Carroll would do something when he came on - it’s very typical us - how many old crocks and ex players score against us is beyond comprehensible !! Christie looked leggy . And so did several others - we were out thought based on having a midweek match when we’d done fantastically . I quite like Slater but he , like Longman and Coyle do have a habit of not Cushing a ball passed to them , or be in such a hurry to go they let it bounce off their foot and it runs away from them .minor faults but at champ level not good enough, when possession is key .

Absolutely bleeding fuming. Yes the ref was sh1te, and it could be argued that the useless twat's indecision over the Hendrick foul cost us the game, but we really are our own worst enemies as well. Another 2 goals from crosses go into our net - at least Rosie recognized the problem in his post match interview and plans to work on that during the next 4 weeks.
Why didn't Slater just swing his left leg when the goal was gaping?
Why didn't both Fig and Greaves block Carroll at the end - we all knew where the (Undeserved) free kick was going?
And why didn't the ref just put a blue and white shirt on?
Those spawny time-wasting bandits are going back down south with 3 stolen points - Unbelievable!

Now I'm to get pissed to try to forget about it
I hope that the squad are doing an after action review today on the blackboard and then going thru some remedial drills.

Christie had a poor first half he received numerous decent balls in the first half on the right in Readings half and managed to do nothing with any of them. I wondered if he had been ill since it was uncharateristic of him.

yes a players first touch is all.

That's utter tosh. We signed Salah for the long term and not just for the here and now. That's also why we took him injured. It's not everyday that a club of our size can sign a top young talent.

You can say the Chelsea lads were pointless signings as they were squad fillers mind.

If there was a quality defensive midfielder that we could've signed, we would have. We didn't just sign a Chelsea kid instead, it would've been a last resort

Sorry, but that’s bollocks. We were rumoured to be in for Ndayishimiye (who’s having a class season apparently) in July and someone on here said we were close to signing him but couldn’t agree personal terms. That shows we wanted one as early as July. The fact we panicked and signed Ryan Woods and some Chelsea academy player on loan instead is poor planning on Acun and the recruitment team’s part.

I can’t actually get over how **** Woods is

Think when Ali, Tetteh, Traore, Sinik went down long-term injured as well as Seri, Tufan for the shorter term, then targets probably changed late in the window to see us through numbers wise.

Also suspect we were hoping to offload Smith, Cannon and Williams initially but then had to use them as we were threadbare as the window was closing.

In football as in life sometimes you have to react to circumstances - despite best laid plans. If you've never had to change tack to avoid trouble (whether perceived or otherwise) then you're either pig headedly stubborn or very fortunate indeed.

Woods is a big weak link in this system, unfortunately coyle proved today he probably isn't up to it either.
Tbf Coyle proved that he’s not up to it long ago, he’s probably a great lad but unfortunately has never looked Championship and/or higher level quality. Yes he’s scored a couple of great goals but he always looks panicky on the ball.

Guess it depends whether we can free up space and budget elsewhere - or what offers Pelkas receives from other clubs as a free agent. We won't be the only ones interested if we want to sign him permanently. For me, if he continues as he has started then we'd be mad not to try and keep him.
Really, if I was LR, I’d definitely be considering whether he’s worth future investment, or even current investment. He’s one that seems to either have a good game, or like yesterday, nothing of note.

I can’t actually get over how **** Woods is

I don’t dislike him (don’t dislike any of our players) and he’s not **** per se but he’s painfully mediocre. At least with Seri, you know he can pull off spectacular passes even on a **** day. Woods just passes back and sideways and completely slows down any momentum we might have when he gets the ball.

He’s playing exactly how Brum players said he would. They weren’t too arsed when he left for us and some even wanted him gone.
