See Burnley have gone top. Get a coach from a foreign club who has no experience of the Championship? Nah! It will never work…
They clearly rate the arsenal kid and as he's here with a view to a perm they obviously feel he might be one for the future. Maybe his injury was the reason he wasn't signed on a perm in the first place? Agree on the Chelsea lads - I assume they were signed as cover when injuries hit, but given we play a midfield 3 then having 5 first team CM's (Seri, Woods, Tufan, Slater and Doc - the latter 3 having added versatility in other positions) isn't exactly a massive overstock. Cannon hasn't got a squad number so is clearly surplus, but as far as Woods is concerned, given the fact he's starting despite the others being fit then I can't see how he can be deemed a 'pointless' signing. For number 10 role we have Pelkas and Traore when he comes back from injury. I'd suspect M'hand would have been signed as a youngster to try and break through and provide cover if needed.
I get the impression Pelkas will only be here for this year, don’t think he has an option and imagine getting rid of his no doubt big wages in an area we should be well stocked in when Salah and Traore are fit. Should give more financial wiggle room to sign a quality defender or two.
Isn't he out of contract and therefore available for free at the end of the season? Obvs we'll potentially have to fend off interest elsewhere to agree terms so there's no guarantees but he doesn't need an option as his loan here takes him to the end of his Fenerbache contract.
That rings a bell tbh so you could be right. Even so - and this is assuming Traore and Salah are up to the level and can stay fit, which we should find out in the second half of this season - the wages on him would be better spent on a top defender or defensive midfielder.
Guess it depends whether we can free up space and budget elsewhere - or what offers Pelkas receives from other clubs as a free agent. We won't be the only ones interested if we want to sign him permanently. For me, if he continues as he has started then we'd be mad not to try and keep him.
That's utter tosh. We signed Salah for the long term and not just for the here and now. That's also why we took him injured. It's not everyday that a club of our size can sign a top young talent. You can say the Chelsea lads were pointless signings as they were squad fillers mind. If there was a quality defensive midfielder that we could've signed, we would have. We didn't just sign a Chelsea kid instead, it would've been a last resort
Well he definitely was not at his best but as I said earlier he did make the midfield strum at times even though he never got to actually pulling the strings as he sometimes does.
Gotta to agree with that. I would be hard pressed to name a player of his calibre that has had the shirt on in the past. Huddlestone maybe in his prime. Tom had a great pass on him but not sure his control in tight situations was as good Seris and that in my opinion is what make him such a great player his ability to receive the ball in tight situations control it and then magically get himself into a positon to play a killer pass. He demonstrated that in spades during the first half of the Cardiff game. A joy to watch.
It took all summer to get Arsenal to let him go. I'm not saying he's the best in their academy but even some of their lesser talents can go on to be worth a lot of money to us.
If arsenal wanted to keep him they’d have kept him let’s hope he goes on to have a great career for us
It's not always that simple for youngsters. There's only so many games, it's pretty limited really and they have a lot of players in his position. Not every club is as twattish as Chelsea where when Solanke refused to sign a new deal so they wouldn't let him play for the 23s. He's not their top level of talent either so when he said he wanted to leave, they've let him. He's obviously not ****e though as he did get on their pre season tour
