Welcome and good luck. I’m apprehensive but credit where it’s due, taking Luton from the lower depths of League 2 to the Championship and then returning from Stoke, staving off the threat of relegation and taking them into the play-offs…

…that is bloody impressive. Especially without the money of a Russian billionaire like Eddie Howe had at AFCB.

So let’s hope it comes right here, but unless the board make sure to correct their mistake and provide a legitimate starting calibre striker to Nathan pretty quickly, this will be over before it begins.

I'm really excited for this, mainly because it's just nice to expect something different. Ralph became so predictable and dull in the end, I was falling out of love with Saints and football. Hate that feeling.

Ralph was probably waiting for the sack and he would have known Saints were looking for his replacement. His sacking probably took longer than he would have liked.

Good to know his family are fans as means he will be fairly knowledgeable on the club already.

Quite excited to see what he can do. Let's hope he gets a winnable first game tonight.
Second game technically as he''ll be in the dugout on Saturday but I get your point.

I'm not inspired by the appointment but I hope but I'd rather be wrong and Saints win. Clearly there is a policy at the club to bring in people with connections to Saints where possible. This is another example.

Nathan has quite a few things to sort out:
1) Get the team playing from the start not when they are 1 or 2 nil down.
2) Get the midfield playing further forward so the defence and defensive midfield have someone to pass forward to.
3) Teach the forwards how to score goals.
4) All the other stuff

Apart from that it should be easy.

Oh, thought you deliberately left out Saturday as he will have had hardly any time with the squad prior to the game. <laugh>

Nah I have obviously just mentally written the game off already <laugh>

Would expect a different look to the team post WC break though.

Well it’s be far too long.

TIOON7, I read your message, which I took to be a reply to Tom's post about Jones being given a contract until 20026, and I couldn't decide whether you were saying "It's been far too long", in relation to the time it has taken for the board to do something about getting a different manager, or if you were saying "It'll be far too long" in relation to the length of contract given to Jones.

Either way, this is a new dawn, we march on together to the sunlit uplands of Premier League top half/European qualification, as evinced by the guaranteed 2-0 win against Liverpool that will inevitably happen on Saturday. Mixing Prozac and alcohol is better than I thought...

I think Jones is going to really ruffle some feathers on the touchline. We'll love him, everyone else will hate him. Can see him getting sent off as well. <laugh>
Hopefully he'll be the managerial equivalent of players like Craig Bellamy, Joey Barton, Shearer - dirty, niggly, whiny, always in the official's ear. People you hated being on the oppo's team, but bloody brilliant if on yours!
