Cheers. Seems funny to have that description but it changes to coach when he went to Leeds.

I listened to Liam's press conference and was very impressed not only with what he had to say but how he said it.

Football managers can waffle on for ages and occasionally make a good point. Liam was short and concise in his answers but it felt like he got to core of the question and answered it well.

It will be night and day when comparing Shota and how he tried to get his message over. Not just a language barrier, but a quiet monotone voice that could put me to sleep.

He seems very clear in how he wants to set us up on and off the pitch. He has a very good reputation as a coach and has a solid if not spectacular CV so far.

I thought Martins appointment would have been a huge statement with his much higher quality experience and achievements in the game compared to Shota.

I feel Liam's appointment is as big a statement and shift from Shota but much more to do with his approach as opposed to extensive CV.

Either way, it is still very exciting and could be a master stroke. We just need to give him plenty of time.

Shota had marginally the better points per game ratio at the end of the season.

Saying one was much better or worse than the other is distorting the truth.

Neither proved to be up to it at championship level. Grant getting us relegated on a mid table wage budget was hardly offset by winning league 1 with comfortably the best squad. We were in the relegation zone most of his time here last season also. Players seemed to pick up a bit of form when it was obvious he was getting fooked off.

A bit like players who don't play, McCann appears to be becoming a better coach the longer he's not coaching us.
