“Leeds United legend John Giles feels that some of Jesse Marsch’s words as Whites’ manager make no sense and insists he should not have even mentioned Marcelo Bielsa.”
The above headline is one of countless ones in the media this week. The club is becoming a laughingstock

Back in the day pundits used to say, what’s the point in sacking a manager so early in the season. Look at Man Utd who stuck with red nose after he was beaten nearly every week and then he got his message over and they won everything for years. Well I will say back then if there was £110m riding on him they would have binned him inside a month.

Leeds plan to take a 2 week break whilst the World Cup is on. I dare you to take that holiday now!

There are 2 schools of thought, there are some who think Jesse Marsch has been unlucky and his luck will change. I was one of those who changed their mind after the Arsenal performance. However after the last 2 matches I now think unlucky is bollox. We were unlucky last season due to the huge number of injuries and square pegging we had to do because the squad was too small. I now believe we have a better squad but a lack of cohesion and tactics. Bielsa had 11 points from first 11 games, Marsch has 9.

I read a post from Gessa last night and have felt similar for a month or so. Gessa has heard of unrest in the camp with some players peed off and one at least wanting out. I believe Joffy is fed up of being ignored and hardly used. Rodrigo looks like he could explode because he is sharing a role with Bamford who shouldn’t be starting. Why are our defenders left exposed when they are supposed to be protected by 2 holding Mids?

My belief is that the board should have binned Marsch last week and ofcourse there are some who disagree. However my view is we are nearing the break and could have had someone else in by now and then him having weeks to drill his tactics into the squad. Leaving the bullet until the break reduces the time to put together a decent plan. I believe the bullet is coming, I see no way back and things getting worse.

Lots of speculation about the new guy and some are ridiculous but when your club has the worst form in the league……. here they are so far, with more to come next week if Marsch survives the weekend:

    Sean Dyche

    Raffa Benitez

    Marcelo Bielsa

    Mauritzio Pochetino

    Kjetil Knutsen.

    Marcelo Gallardoo

    Domineo Tedesco

Obviously some won’t agree with me and want him to have more time and yes maybe I’m just angry still but watching mistakes, garbage football, using 2 DMs but still exposing defenders. Marsch says he is angry, well good so are thousands of fans. Lets see what parking the bus looks like under Marche at Anfield.

You wouldn't have to be a genius to predict a mauling. If Liverpool score early it couldn't be a Halloween horror show

Would have thought the set up would be similar to first half against Arsenal.

Question is though who plays where as Jesse has chopped and changed the team twice since that good performance against the Gooners ?

Kristensen was starting to play well and then get's left out against Fulham, which was a mystery, but some have been saying he can play left back so may as well throw in him there as it seems virtually everyone else is being asked to play different roles.

Greenwood is now being turned into a defensive midfielder, when he clearly doesn't have the attributes for that role. Yes he filled in and did a job against Fulham but what about Gyabi who looks a complete natural. Does Greenwood's one game there last season (Brentford) make him that much more experienced. Not having a go at Greenwood who's had 7 mins against Chelsea and then 4 mins against Brentford all season, this despite being on the bench for every game. Anyway, surely he's better suited to a more attacking midfield role and should be coming on before Klich to learn and develop instead of more square pegging which Struijk is also doing at left back.

Aaronson so far has played 4 different positions, wide right attack, right midfield of a 3, holding midfield of a 2 (Leicester when Roca went off) and also as the attacking midfielder in front of the holding 2 as he did against Fulham. Great that he can be so flexible or not getting the most from one of our best players ?

Harrison moved to the right to accomodate Sinisterra and asked to play narrow looks like a fish out of water. Llorente asked to play left side of central defence where he looks really uncomfortable.

Is it any wonder the players are struggling to get results and if we can all see it why can't Jesse and Orta.

He has the players to go 4-2-3-1, which for me solves all his problems. He all but switched to this at the end of last season to keep us up. Supports the fullbacks and gives us width to allow us to attack quicker in transition. Rodrigo is our top goal scorer so he shouldn’t be moved to accommodate Bamford. Also agree that the players aren’t fit enough to sustain the current system which is why we fade so badly most games.

If all these injuries are actual injuries expect to see a hell of a lot of changes again. He made 3 changes from the Arsenal good performance for the Leicester match and then he made 4 changes for Fulham. Gnonto is bound to be around tomoz to back up a weak Bamford if Rodrigo and Gelhardt out. Llorente to cover for Cooper unless he mans up and puts Drameh at LB and has Struijk as LCB. Will Kristensen be back at RWB, will Klich start?

The facts are that on top of the Marsch mess there is still Cooper, Klich, Forshaw, Dallas and Ayling who are struggling at this level due to age. We are not seeing much of any of them are we. Yes Dallas is a big miss as he could have been LWB all this season but hes crocked until next year. We tried to stay loyal to the players that got us up but…… Ayling missed games last season through injury and suspension and missed games this season too. Cooper exactly the same, Forshaw no suspension but injuries, Klich not started this season and is a bit part player

So lets say Rodrigo and Gelhardt are out tomoz, who do we start with up top?
    • An unfit Bamford
    • Willie Gnonto or is kick off past his bedtime
    • Greenwood or will he be starting as a DM
    • Mateo Joseph Fernandez or will he be doing his homework
    • Sonny Perkins once his paper round is done

    More from Johnny Giles:

“He’s the manager, he’s the one who is responsible for what they’re not doing.
“I was not pleased with him. He was scathing of Bielsa.
“He said when he came into the club that he could tell by the players’ eyes that they were tired and they were done in. I don’t think that’s right.”
Marsch is running out of time and ideas as the curtains slowly but surely shut on his time at Elland Road.

Saturday evenings clash against Liverpool at Anfield may be his last and anything other than three points could spell doom for the American.

Performances and results certainly haven’t been good enough this season and sticking with Marsch any longer could spell disaster for the Whites.

The American was fired from his last role before the season was completed and it looks like he hasn’t learnt his lessons from his Leipzig catastrophe.

It seems he isn’t suited to high-pressure, top-league club jobs and his tactics and strange team selections recently have all but confirmed this.

The team’s lack of goalscoring prowess up top definitely hasn’t helped matters for Marsch, but the American’s pressing style has highlighted serious defensive frailties.
