Realistically, this situation is going ro happen more now. The more successful we are, the more other clubs will want our key players. The big clubs all buy players from each other as well, so it's not a huge surprise. I just hope Bruno's head isn't swayed by offers of fame and fortune. And I would hate for the usual scenario of a great player going to one of the top boys, only to see their career ruined by squad rotation, or not being 1st choice. I think Bruno realises he has legend status here and I think he loves that. He won't get that at Chelsea, he'd just be yet another squad player.
The media and certain clubs fans still haven't quite grasped that Newcastle is building the next football superpower.
Yar, Gossip column reporting Chelsea wanna sign him in January now. **** off, yeah progress is obviously selling our best player to a close rival. The days of selling our key player like Cabaye are gone now, it would make no ****ing sense if we sign Maddison and Diaby in January then let Bruno go. Plus Bruno actually seems like a good guy and that he's living every minute here, he's no mercenary.
are there any Chelsea players to look at to put a bid and upset their apple cart because that's all this is
Apparently Kante is long term injured and Georgino may be leaving at the end of the season. **** off and buy Declan Rice then.
I love the guy and hope we have him for years but speculation like this just doesn't frighten me at all. It seems that we're likely to spend to the limits of FFP in coming years so if we decide to sell a player for good money I have full faith that the money is going to be reinvested anyway. Look at what we've done with £200m, even if we were to sell him I suspect we could buy Madison and Diaby for what we'd get in and possibly have money to spare. I don't want to lose him though, he's awesome, I'm just not worried about it. It's not like under Ashley, when we sold Cabaye we replaced him with... Colback. That is no longer our style.
Or Carroll with Shefki Kuqi? I agree and if we did sell we'd obviously replace him with a quality player, but it would make absolutely no sense to sell though, particularly to a team in a similar position to us... That would be like a team doing to us what we did to Burnley by buying Wood off them, ie weakening them and improving ourselves at their expense. No matter what people think of Wood, buying him took away their goal threat and sent them down.
And here we feckin go again: Liverpool are the latest side to be linked with Brazil midfielder Bruno Guimaraes but face competition from Chelsea and Real Madrid, unless Newcastle United can convince the 24-year-old to sign a new contract. (TNT Sports - in Portuguese) I honestly wonder what teams would need to offer for him....?
Liverpool couldn't afford him, neither could Real Madrid...... They both have ceilings don't you know
The player might fancy Madrid if that happily wouldn't be too surprised , but I think he'll stay a couple more years and see what goes on personally. The reality is that if a club comes in offering serious money and it's a club like Madrid it'll be hard to keep him.
3.5 years on his contract, folk hero, leader of the uprising, being reasonable based on current form etc £80-90m would probably be a "good deal" but looking forwards to what he is worth over the next few years to us and what selling him would signal to others - £130-150m minimum.
I think £80m would be an absolute steal for him tbh, and he's easily worth £120m+. Especially if Grealish went for £100m.
He's not subject to the "English" tax though - personally I'd be looking for £130m+ - but from a business perspective if you triple your money in a year and can reinvest sensibly it'd make sense - could buy the enitre back 4 again for and have a few million left over.
I won't be surprised if rumours start about him if he keeps going the way he is,there is 2 teams spring to mind who'll need a new CB soon! When those players were signed it was a case of "who",hats off to scouts for signing them.
