Not the best of posts this in my opinion. Even if exagerating to suggest the lad doesnt support SAFC is low. Not a great look at all I am afraid.

The lad wasnt even the first today to post about strikers. He was all but invited to comment by others. It has been a theme over the last few weeks and it is a bit of a mystery to me why it has become this central theme on here. Prehabs opinion is as valid as everyones. You can disagree of course, we all do at times, but it seems a small number have turned it into something unnecessary. Shame really, this place is better than that.

For the record, I would be much more inclined to challenge the club on the 2 strikers front. It was a gamble that has backfired. Everyone can see that surely. They tried for Broadhead but failed, so they knew they needed one. They needed to get another. I would bet they end January with more than 2.

Anyway, shame to see good posters feeling they want to leave. This place will be worse for it IMO.

Oh dear we've lost a game of football we really should have won, it's football nobody's died it's a game, yes it's annoying but we'll get over it.
We all know our shortcomings ( so does our mana ger)and the better teams in this league know how to exploit that, like Burnley did yesterday.
I was sat in the stand at Morecambe yesterday relying on phone updates and like everyone else was chuffed to bits at half time, but once my phone pinged just after HT and saw Burnley had scored I just knew where the match was headed and I dreaded looking every time it pinged after that.
Yes 4 goals against is hard to stomach but is it really enough to fall out over on here, there are some cracking lads on here and I hope when they've woken up this morning with a clear head they get back to making this board what it is, a cracking place to express opinions without all the drama HTL.

There's been some very unnecessary stuff on this thread since full-time yesterday mind.

Personal stuff that seems to have been simmering under, ad a loss and alcohol to the mix.

Whilst I have praised Speakman for the recruitment of some good players, I have also consistently criticised him for not bringing more strikers.

I have said we need 4 to account for injuries/loss of form/tactics/ rotation etc.

Now we also need to address one of dear old Eeyores points, he is spot on imho. Namely that of poor physicality and lack of height. This is one of the reasons we have not scored from a set piece this season and have conceded several ourselves. It may be our set piece takers are not very good. Another factor to consider as well as strikers in the January window.

The issue I have with it is this. If someone or a group of people were making the same point in every match thread as if it were a new idea I'd wonder if they were being boring on purpose. If you add on to that the fact that they know fine well it gets people riled up as far as I'm concerned they're throwing fuel on the fire and enjoying it. Not great behaviour imo.

Personally whenever I've had a contentious opinion, like when I was being critical of Burge, I've thrashed it out for a week or so then never brought it up again. The points have been made on both sides so why bother when if anything all it does is annoy people.

As for people leaving because of an argument it's always seemed faintly ridiculous to me but each to their own.

I’m glad someone said it. He seems to be getting away with this scott free when he refuses to change things up, even though it’s obvious that Embleton and Neil need removing. That second half was pathetic and it’s down to him as far as I’m concerned. I’ll honestly be surprised if he see’s the season out.

Lack of strikers were not responsible for Saturdays defeat , if you score two goals in a home game you would normally win . Poor marking at a set piece early in the second half again proved to be our Achilles heal and let Burnley back in the game and they proved that they are a very good side by going on to take all three points . The manager is right we have a distinct lack of height in the side and once we conceded I would have gone five at the back by bringing on Bailey Wright to stiffen the defence because you knew what was coming , a lot of teams will suffer defeat against Burnley so we have to dig in till we start getting some players back on the pitch hopefully after the World Cup break .

Without two consecutive injuries there wouldn't be a discussion at all, it was a mixture of bad luck and bad planning from the club.

But it's where we are for whatever reason.

Relentlessly posting that we don't have fit strikers, as if it's breaking news and no one realised, becomes tiring and demoralising. We're all big boys and don't want to be lectured every time we lose or don't score. As @Nacho said, once is enough unless you're simply after a reaction or trying to show you know better than everyone else including the club.

I wanted another striker, we all did but Broadhead left his decision late when he was expected to come here, perhaps he'd said he would. But, if we'd signed some mercenary old plodder people would've been quick enough to criticise that as well. Strikers are the hardest commodity to find especially when they know they might spend the entire season sitting on the bench.

The club hoped we could manage with what we had and were wrong, not really a hanging offence for KLD, Speakman, etc, imo.

No mod said their opinion needed to change, more say your opinion once or twice and knock the other 100 same opinion on the head, because it’s tedious, bores the pants off people and gets some people angry when you’ve just got beat 4-2

I disagree with prehabs opinion on the situation and sometimes it winds me up but when there are people like monty constantly posting ****e and teesidemackem with personal attacks I think its unfair to tell prehab to change or else when they can get away with anything.

If you read back posts mate Monty has been told he should be banned more times than I’ve had a hot dinner, never once has he gone crying to his mam.

Problem is that even if we did go and get broadhead in he wouldn't be the answer to Simms and Stewart being injured. He wouldn't add any of the physicality or height we're missing right now and people would be making the exact same criticisms. And we all know his injury record so chances are we'd end up with him missing games as well. It would have been hard to justify having a third big physical striker and even harder to find someone good who would be happy to be told they're behind Stewart and Simms. Injuries happen, we're not the first team to have players in the same position injured and we won't be the last.

Well I've slept on the result, read through all the thread and considered the various posts and come up with the following.

First half we played them off the park and at times played some great football, second half they made changes and brought on a few players that changed things.

Our movement second half was non existent, a few times when we had the ball at the back the movement from the front players was non existent, so we went sideways or punted it long and it caught us out.

Burnley will be in the mix for promotion this season and today was a steep learning curve for the manager and the team.

Personally thought we missed Alese and Cirkin didn't have the best of games. Hume did very well considering his lack of game time.

All in all a great first half with a terrible second half. Time to regroup and focus on the next game

An apology has been made to me and I have accepted it. Case closed and we move on.

Let's hope a return to form is round the corner as 1 win in 7 is a poor showing and we all want our club to succeed.
