It was very obvious the difference in workrate and chasing from a fresh Oscar v a run-ragged Longman. I love Oscar too but he needs to do a bit more Whitehurst-like fear of God chasing.

Oscar chases plenty. If he'd started in that line up he'd have had a bagful, there were so many great balls into the area today.

That's two great performances in a row from him. Hopefully an example for Tufan to follow.

it's not having a scapegoat for saying someones not doing enough
it's why football teams have a squad of 23+ players

tufan needed to be dropped and he should be again
it's up to him to get in the team again and if he does, we hope he plays well

seri was below par for ahwile, but he's been super last few starts

Discussed on the podcast the approach likely needed with Tufan, rotating him for this one was the right approach. May well come back in on the weekend to give him a chance to perform. Can't leave him out in the cold and risk putting him offside I don't think.

That’s if’s and maybe’s. The fact is Longman chased a lot more and a lot faster. Oscar’s closing down when he came on was barely walking pace. Longman was ace tonight.

It's not really ifs and maybes to say he would have done well with the chances provided based on his goals to date.

personally i don't see how he fits into the team at the moment
i think we are too disjointed with him
but i'm not the one training day in day out with them

if i'm proved wrong, so be it
still 31 league games to go
squads rotate

i don't think we create those chances if he was on the pitch tonight, i like oscar, but he's a diff player to longman, our midfielders dont overlap and move anywhere near as much when oscar in on becasue he is always isolated in that middle area

he misses tetteh and allayah

Great result - didn’t see the match but reading the posts sounds like we finally deserved to win a match rather than riding our luck.
Onwards and upwards … will be happy with mid table this year but let’s be honest, the league is wide open this year. Blackburn are second and have lost 7 already this year, we have only lost 8!!

Maybe our new head of performance analysis development thingy identified a way we could win tonight. Maybe it was to manage legs/fitness over a 3 game week or maybe it was just a hunch from Daws.

I had us for a draw, didn't see a comfortable win though, nor the selection.

Plenty to build on from tonight, and a little confidence as well to take into the weekend.

def seemed a fighting spirit in them today
