Comment about Jones absolutely on the money, saw it at Stoke. He drops in to receive the ball and conduct play only for him not to get it. Team around him are woeful and as usual city fans defend the Grant Ball kife and jump straight on the new imports.
Yeah I share that viewpoint too. Said it at the time I had no idea why we signed him as we already had Seri/Slater of that mould and really needed a midfielder who could facilitate the luxury players in the side
Anyone had a flutter on Dawson getting to 10 games? Doesn’t seem that outrageous to me especially now Baz says he’s got minimum 6. 9/1 at Sky
The thing that gets me with Acun being criticised for being too public is that half the time it isn't him. After the Martins deal fell through a lot of people were complaining about his flights across Europe bringing the deal into the public eye. I don't know what he's supposed to do about people tracking his plane. The rest of the noise was mostly just local and national media knowing that the deal was close. The only thing Acun really did was post a picture of them together, a few hours before he was due to watch the team anyway. I do think his comments about attacking football are daft though. Just because I don't think there really exists a style of play where you're happy to lose because the style was good. A struggling team will always be frustrating to watch and a winning team will always be more satisfying to watch.
I think the photo is the main thing, but that's more a criticism of both Acun and Martins. Why on Earth were they happy to have the photo done if the deal wasn't 99.99% done?
Got promoted and plenty fans wanted him to stay... most talented player in the side by a mile its almost a comedy show the team isn't built around him
Because it doesn't matter, cost them nothing, and they were about to be pictured watching the game together anyway.
The broader question is why watch the game together but I suspect you knew that. For a player/manager to be so publicly linked to a club/owner like that is naive or downright foolish if a deal isn't on the verge of being done.
This is the problem with the recruitment to me. It feels like it wasn’t conducted by a proper footballing mind and that’s the point upon which I question the owner’s involvement potentially being too much.
Contract was agreed in principle. No one was saying it was done and dusted but at that point they probably thought an agreement was likely. If both parties were happy to make the talks/interest public then what's naive or foolish about it? Something has obviously scuppered it at the last minute but him having options won't have helped Acun close the deal, but the only thing that's foolish about photo/watching the game is people chucking their toys out of the pram about it on the Internet.
I’m not convinced seri and Tufan works in a two but we’ve not seen it and slater plus one of the above doesn’t work for certain. I want to see Seri and Tufan start with the doc floating about, at least we’ll have 2 midfielders who want the ball and have the ability to control the game, with the doc who we know won’t stop running. it will be interesting to how we get on without slater, as he seems immune from being dropped but I can’t see anything he really brings to the side.
