With Macca gone, who's left for us to deal with next season? I realise that the likes of Oli, Macca, JB, Kilbane are all on loan so we'll still have to deal with them next season, but is there anyone left over? I imagine that everyone that NP has signed are all on acceptable wages, so is it simply the loanees that need sorting come July/August or is there someone missing? I can't help but think after a spell at a Champions League side that Tijani may be a new high(ish)earner. (Taking into consideration that ***an and Gardner's contracts are up at the end of the season, as well as Folan and Oli looking likely to depart) Thoughts?
You missed Ghlias. Gardner is on loan until the end of his contract, so he's effectively gone already. ***an, Folan(despite what Sky say), Duke and Garcia all have contracts expiring at the end of this season(along with several of the youth team) and I think all could potentially be on their way(Barmby's contract is also up, but he'll definitely be staying). Oli, Macca, Jimmy, Ghilas and Kilbane will all remain problems in the summer, as they're all on more money than they're worth.
Who's Ghlias? One too many Tetley's again, OLM? Sky are useless when it comes to anything lower than the Premier League (and even in the PL when it comes to Paul Merson and the Tigers) If ***an isn't on too high a wage and gets a few games before the end of the season I can see the possibility of a one-year extension: the same with Garcia and probably Duke (considering we have no permanent keepers) After saying that, Pearson seems to want to build his own team so we'll have to wait and see whether any new contracts will be given out.
Probably Dawson as well. His contract renewal was triggered by appearances so will still be at a Duffen level. He can't be on much too much though or before the takeover we'd have been playing Kilbane or Cooper instead to avoid the extra year.
I reckon the only real high earners are the ones that were signed in the Premier League. Daws has been around for ages so whilst he may have got a small pay increase, he won't be used in the same breath as McShane.
I'm pretty sure that all the long standing players had relegation clauses, so I doubt Dawson's extra year was too much of an issue.
Barmby will definitely stay, but i reckon that Garcia and ***an will be given new deals. Gardner is certain to leave. But still don't know what is going to happen to Duke.
There's no way Nigel will give ***an, Garcia or Folan new deals. Every player that NP's brought in, almost to a man has turned out twice as good as these guys. NP knows a good player from a bad one and that's just one reason why he's a better manager than Phil Brown
Let's not forget that Brown was a top manager for us, he knew his players, even if he found out too late. He put the likes of Halmosi and Folan on the naughty step because he knew they were useless. It's just a shame he didn't know how useless Sonko and Halmosi were before giving bumper deals to them. I think ***an is very capable of playing in the Championship, as is Garcia, and could quite easily be offered short term (probably only 1 year) extensions. Unless Pearson intends on signing 10 players in the summer then we should keep them, we need a bit of depth. I was surprised at the loan of McShane, we've been left with no defensive cover again, although Sonny Bradley is probably more reliable than Macca.
You state 4 opinions as fact including the grossest of generalisations. Are you privvy to Pearson's inner thoughts? How can every player brought in by Pearson be so good?...and the others so bad?....some of the new ones have hardly played a couple of games....howwould you know hopw good they are? You must be in the wrong job if your judgement is so good and do you really know Pearson? if so tell us about his inability to manage players and his stalinist tenandencies
Considering the amount spent and the value we got for that money, Pearson has already beaten Brownie hands down. Pearson still has a way to go to match Brownies achievements for Hull City, but in difficult circumstances, he's made a very good start. As for his ability to manage players, I know several of them and the only ones that don't like him are the ones that aren't good enough and don't get games. He's exceptionally popular with the first team squad, have you not noticed that Leicester players are queueing up to join us?
Of course he is popular with the players he has signed...he has just given them all contracts!!! I remembered Brown was forever going back to his old club, Bolton, too! Pearson's actions surely show his inability to deal with anyone he doesn't know or get on with or isn't a yes man.Even you Lambrini, from so far away, can see his character difficiences/
This, can imagine Garcia and ***an staying as they are good squad players, Duke maybe depending on the situation with Mannone and Guzan. Barmby will definitely stay.
Players like Simpson and Koren joined because of the manager- they said so when they joined. Pearson seems to be very highly thought of within the game
He had a list of targets and got most of them, I honestly dont belive he would have made a list of players based on who he had to deal with to get them! I love how you dont get modded when swearing
