Seriously did you actually watch it we were ****? there was a euphoria because by the grace of god we scraped through the final we should have won but he did a jack ross
If you're talking about the Euros still, then it's rubbish to suggest we were ****. If you've ignored that and are back to arguing about tonight, then I don't put much stock in glorified friendlies.
Howe will fail at Newcastle. He'd jump at the chance and he fits the FA profile perfectly. Personally I'd rather watch Sunderland U18's than England.
All the way to the final by pure luck. If you actually believe that, there's no convincing you otherwise. We got all the way to the semi finals without conceding a goal. We beat Germany, hammered Ukraine and beat a very good Denmark team and then had our chances against Italy. We only lost on penalties. If we had won the penalty shoot out, would you have wanted him out for being lucky?
Nice bloke and done very well but its the end of the cycle football-wise. Needs to put his slippers on and shuffle off to the FA. Should have gone after the Euros imo.
They ended up beating the **** out of each other on the other side of the draw. Look at the draws we've had in the last 2 tournaments man and then tell me we haven't been lucky.
I'm trying to think what level he'd manage at when he leaves the job. For me definitely not the prem and not the championship either. I don't see it in him. Based on nothing much I could see him moving into the women's game.
Mind boggling people want rid. Do we forget what happened before? The difference between now and the horrow shows like Allardyce or Capello, and their mind numbing view of football is stark. We are having a rough run but who is better placed? I cant think of a single person to get more from these players in the tournament.
Could be right there but I suspect he'd feel he's got unfinished business in management. Who would you guess he'd be comparable to, I'd say Chris Coleman. Nice bloke, did well with the national team, not much success at club level.
Personally I still go back to the problem nobody mentions anymore, the lack of English players in the Premiership. Imho only Kane and the young lad who plays in Germany, Bellingham were any good last night. The others were lacklustre. James FFS was taking free kicks at goal, he had never scored for England! Who could have made a difference last night? It might help to change manager, but Southgate has been the only one for decades to get a sniff of a trophy. They would still be trying to 'make a silk purse out of a pig's ear'.
I haven't watched England since the Euros final, I don't think I've missed much. One thing I 100% agree with that has been said on here, the final with Italy reminded me of our play off with Chartlon under Jack Ross. On top of the game first half and look like we will win with ease, only a matter of time until we get another one or two goals. Then half time comes and second half is ****e sit back letting the other team grow and grow.
Two typical examples of having the momentum, the crowd and a team with ample attacking talent ... ... then waving a white flag and handing the advantage to the opposition.
Agreed. When Southgate got the job one of the main reasons that he initially did so well was that he already knew the system and the younger crop of players from being U21 manager. He was then able to promote those players and we all saw the benefits. There was a clear model that made a lot of sense to follow especially given the amount of talented younger players coming through the age groups. Having shown the system works the FA seems to have abandoned it - to the extent that I agree with you entirely that there is no obvious person presently more qualified to do the job and I even had to google who the present U21 coach is.
