To be fair they're probably more worried about they're club teams. Not sure I'll be into it as much as usual with the build up to Christmas.

I'm was born in the 60's....and watching all matches, including the outsiders is a treat.
All the so called 'no hopers' playing against the 'big guns'...makes you root for them. All playing their hearts out....amazing to watch.
The World Cup, is like watching a month of FA Cup Finals....for me.
Through the decades, depending on which Continent is was played in, you would watch live matches a 2am....or at 6am.
Absolutely amazing if you have kids or Grandkids.....wake them up to watch these games....buy the Sticker Albums for them..

Kane prospers from Son over the past years as did Phillips and Quinn but in the set up there is no Son type player, so Kane suffers in England set up.
Let's hope we can select the fully fit 22 players Southgate want.
Have to disagree on Allardyce mate. I believe he would have been a disaster for England. He would never have brought the youth on and would have picked big names constantly. His ego would have demanded he did just that. I may be harsh because I am no Allardyce fan, but he would never make an international manager IMO where coaches are not the main attraction.
I think being an international coach takes a certain type of person. Look at Jurgi Low as a brilliant example. I see a lot of him in Southgate. Low key, understated, but very driven and focussed as well. They see a much longer term picture than club managers do.
That's me normally. But teams being forced to play in a burning desert hell hole to glorify an appalling bunch of wretches takes the edge of it to say the least.

Think it’s simply other teams have worked out Southgate’s game plan and he’s got f all else. Worked for a while but hasn’t got the ability or more importantly the experience to sort it out. An average Championship manager who got to pick from some fantastic talent has been found out.
We beat a very poor Germany, hammered (in our only good performance of the tournament) a Ukraine side who finished 3rd in their group and had only progressed by way of getting 3 points - from a win against Macedonia.
Yes, we beat a good Denmark aet but they were knackered from having travelled for their previous game in Baku whilst England made their sole away trek to Rome for their game against Ukraine.
England had all of their other games at Wembley whilst Italy had to decamp from Rome to London to Munich then back to London for the last 2 games.
In the final we scored and then stopped attacking and were lucky to take it to penalties.
Southgate had everything in his favour and threw it away when it seemed easier for England to win. Don't forget, he brought Rashford and Sancho on at 120mins specifically to take penalties and chose Saka, our least experienced player to take the crucial last penalty
Agree wholeheartedly. He is supposed to be very popular with the players, but they hardly look as though they are playing out of their skins for him in return.
Excellent post mate. Easy to get carried aymway with wins and getting to finals but we got by without much fight from.the opposition. That final was a disgrace in my opinion, Italy were all over the place in the first half we would have won it if we kept attacking but he did a Jack Ross in the play off final.
Yep. In that final, and in the semi against Croatia in the World Cup, Southgate froze. I personally think he could have done with an older head with him then, just telling him to get a ball holder on the pitch.
Particularly against Italy, where we just didn't take part until they equalised. Sancho, who had been outstanding against Ukraine, or Grealish should have been brought on, and I was Howling at the telly for it right after half time. Even by attracting fouls, it would have got us up the pitch and changed the game's flow.
Southgate has done what none of the others would have done in playing so many younguns. But he is way too fixed on certain players, and has clearly taken against others.
I've a feeling that he doesn't really like the more challenging characters. Vardy, Sancho, Grealish, Timori, who are all independent minded lads have all been treat very badly IMO. The idea that Maguire, who can't get into his club team is a better pick than Timori or Stones is comical.
If they aren't playing at club level theh shouldn't be anywhere near. How many times have we seen it over the years that a playergl gets called up and starts cause he plays here and there for a top 4 club?
You summed the difference up with Soutgate it isn't the big club bias with him it's just down to the players he likes!
England beat Croatia, Germany, Denmark and Ukraine quite comfortably. The Scotland match was poor, but that was more about how much The Scots wanted to disrupt England
I find it so odd that England fans insist on doing their team down, even in times of success.

I am not sure when we should get carried away with England if it is not when getting to a final mind. We are hardly serial winners. Southgate has given the team an identity we havent had since Bobby Robson in my opinion. We have had some good squads, but some shocking coaches earning god knows what. Even Venables should have got more out of the 96 home tournament but didnt. Southgate remains a very good fit for the players and squad in my opinion, but if we crash at the world cup then he will go. By crash I mean less than a semi final. The question of who next will prove far more difficult than a decision to get rid of him IMO. We have proven time and time again we can appoint terrible international managers, but only once or twice we can appoint a good one.
