We look dangerous from corners though. Vvd got the beating of them every time. Just unlucky couldn’t get enough power to get it away from the keeper there

Better performance tonight. More desire and intensity, being too open and leaving spaces still an issue. Should have had at least 2 goals from the chances we've have created.

Jota looked lively for so long out. Nice pass to Salah for the goal and a decent strike from out the area.
Diaz looking busy without offering an awful lot. Should have scored from his shot 12 yards out. Poor to put it wide from there.
Salah been ok. Beat his man couple times towards end of half which is encouraging. Nice finish for the goal.
Thiago quality on the ball. Him and other 2 were really poor for the goal. No one tracked any kind of runner.

Thought Elliot has been near on the ball in terms of keeping the ball moving and finding gaps. Agree on defensive contribution.
I'm not sure with the way were set up that his first job is defender.
Overall, that was a positive half and we should be ahead . I have a slight concern that Ajax have more in them than we have seen but let’s have another half like that apart from the poor defending

Just to add, we spend more time with the ball than without and Trent is both one of our main playmakers and generally our top assist provider. This shows his role is primarily an attacking one I'd say.
Just looked at the replay of their goal, VVD has to attack their forward. Yes it was a great strike but he might not have been able to do that if Virg had closed him down
Sure, competition would help. He knows it's either a CB (Gomez) or a midfielder (Milner) coming in that his position is not under threat.
Tbf, the other forward blocked him off, it was a bit like a pick and roll in basketball.
