As you said above, in places they are popular, but many who want them out are apathetic, or quite rightly think there are other things more pressing. (Like the economy, or NHS... Throwing out the royalty is backstage to that). Plus right now, the country is leaning right wing, and right wingers tend to like the monarchy more. Politics will continually shift left and right. Probably more murmurings to remove the King when Labour get in power next time.
Once all the old people are gone though there's not going to be many people left that support the monarchy. Twenty years from now and the Monarchy is in danger.

For the record, if it ever happens that genuinely the majority of people want them out, I wouldn't care. I'd think it's a bit gay that we're as boring as everyone else now and I know for a fact a British President would just be ANOTHER Eaton toff stuffy **** everyone hates and I'd roll my eyes when people complained about it.
But overall I wouldn't lose sleep.
