This Saturday we welcome Huddersfield Town, who find themselves 23rd having won one, drawn one and lost five. Their only win 3-1 against Stoke on August 13th. They have conceded 11 so far in their opening 7 games, joint third worst in the division alongside 9 other clubs...including us. Only Hull (15) and Boro (12) have conceded more. They'll be furious after last weekend, when goal line technology failed to operate and therefore denied them an equalising goal against Blackpool, meaning they have now lost 3 of their last 4 and drawn the other. Their top scorers are Anjorin, Rhodes and Ward with 2 goals each. Interesting glancing over the career history of their manager, Danny Schofield, who has really worked his way up the ranks. He started at the Barnsley youth academy in 2014, and then whilst playing in non-league football he also coached Bradford Park Avenue. He gradually worked his way through the coaching ranks at Leeds and Boro before joining Huddersfield as under-19's coach, and was offered the top job when Corberan resigned in July. Saturday aside, got to say, good luck to him.
We now have a coach with a very similar story, and on the pitch there have been moments of brilliance since he took over. Some wonderful football has been played and we've had some good wins, but amongst those wins we've also dropped points against Blackpool and Rotherham, teams I'd hoped we could beat. Saturday will be another potential banana skin as clearly Huddersfield aren't in fine form. Here's hoping that Chair, Willock and co to link up well, and Willock to continue to add to his 4 goals already scored this season.
Team news and manager comments to go up asap and as always...
...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
