Apparently the Leagues are meeting today to decide about the weekend games. I think they should go ahead, with a minute's silence.

I’m in Rhodes travelling back at 2pm tomorrow. Think I can buy Wi-Fi on the plane for £12 but will hesgoal or any other website be streaming it?

Will the Premier League and EFL cancel fixtures this weekend?

All Premier League and EFL fixtures have been postponed this weekend.

The Queen’s funeral is expected to be held on Monday, September 19 and there are no Premier League or EFL fixtures schedule for that day.

There is a full fixture list over the weekend of September 16, 17 and 18 and more information on those games will follow in due course.

Several British clubs are also in European action next week and, again, more details on those ties will follow.

It's such an ill-considered decision. What could be more respectful than 10s of thousands of fans respecting a minutes silence and likely belting out the national anthem after? Its just being afraid of upsetting the wrong people.

We didn't stop football when thousands of us were dying every month.

    I agree.
There aren't many on here more supportive of our Monarchy and our Country than me, but a minute's silence followed by God Save The King would have been the correct way to go imo.
Not sure how cancelling everything is a mark of respect. It's not like we're all going to be huddled at home dressed in black.

Have to agree that cancelling the weekend fixtures is a bad idea. As Col says surely it's more respectful to have a minutes silence and then The National Anthem.......

Additionally I know of peeps who were flying over for games, not just our's, and now the whole weekend and associated costs have been lost....... IMO those in authority are a tad out of touch.......

Currently away laying by the pool so at least I’ll get to see our rescheduled fixture.
I do agree the games should have gone ahead but lots of talk of Liverpool ‘fans’ booing the national anthem which would be in particularly bad taste.

Horrendous decision! Everyone could go to work today and Monday, but not then do what they want to do at the weekend.
My condolences to the royal family. I deeply regret her death and have had a toast to her life with my glass of wine at dinner table.

There’s only so much you can take watching about the Queen, it’s very sad & upsetting watching it day after day on TV, I would’ve thought the majority of fans & players wanted matches to go ahead

I suspect postponements are more due to the stresses on infrastructure, Police are expecting considerably larger volumes of people in London and will be stretched, stopping football will relieve some pressure on event teams.
    Personally I'd rather football.
Odd that Keiser Chiefs gig in St Albans park can go ahead but football at Watford can't.

Can’t be many police required for kids’ football. Think the FA made a call assuming the other sports would follow and they’ve been made to look like out of touch mugs.

Didn't know about the kids football.
I'm amazed Sky weren't a bit more forceful about keeping football on but then they wouldn't be able to fill the next 10 days talking to anyone who has ever heard of the Queen.

Different crowd at the rugger old chap! They don't trust us riff-raff plebs to respect the minutes silence or National Anthem and embarrass the country....if the rumours about the scouse scum are true you can't blame them

I was due to go to Huddersfield and Stoke games the next two Saturday's. Tomorrow's game is off and I suspect next weekend's game might be postponed too. As I had the flights booked, I am going to travel. I might just spend the day being a tourist in Central London.

There will be massive traffic disruption until after the funeral. Basically all roads around Buckingham Palace through to Victoria St, Over Lambeth Bridge along to Westminster Bridge, Victoria Embankment up through Trafalgar Square to Piccadilly Circus and Piccadilly will be closed to through traffic for ten days. That's a square mile of the busiest roads in town. With several other disruptive road works elsewhere it's going to be a nightmare getting anywhere. Add in thousands of visitors to pay their respects and lousy weather forecast f*ck knows what's in store...
