Yes and no. We saw what happens when Stewart gets injured in the warm up after training for a game using all of his attributes. If he’s out next week, my guess is that Mowbray will have them working on that style of play without Stewart. One that suits the team picked. Unfortunately we don’t have a like for like for Stewart (and he’s mint, massive miss), but, from a team perspective, when you work on a playing style all week then the focal point of that is missing 10 minutes before the game starts, that’s going to be a nightmare.
Spot on this so hopefully better Saturday even if it looks like Stewart might make it we need to work work on a plan B just incase

Because there's already enough people who have decided he's Boro and after every defeat or run of games without a win, they're only going to get louder. He won't be afforded the time that other managers would be.

The daft thing is, it's nowt to do with Mowbray, he's a complete professional. He has more respect for himself than to lower his standards in his work over some perceived rivalry. It's certain fans' own views on how willing they would be to sacrifice their own principles that's clouding their view.

Poor performance all over the pitch, the RS injury during warm up will have massively upset the game plan, his work rate, hold up play and goals are crucial for us. We were still in it though right till the end and could have pinched a point, we played dreadfully but never got murdered, that’s the only positive for me. Squad will have to step up to the plate by the looks of things and I think they will. Both injuries are an opportunity for some squad players to make a name for themselves. We aren’t going to win every game and that was what TM alluded to last week, he’s realistic.

I couldn’t give 2 ****s where the manager is from or who he supports as long as he gets the results on the pitch.

I reckon Mowbray has been in the game long enough to not let this affect his judgement. He would have been found out years ago if this was the case.

Last night was a mixture of too many players being off the pace and all preparation went out the window when Stewart was injured. Our crossing, passing and finishing was pretty abysmal which doesn’t help.

Their central defenders and goalie had too easy a time last night. Even if we don’t play two up front, we need to fix the high press due to Stewart’s absence. Maybe Dajaku can help fill the void there. He will be stronger than Roberts and Diallo and can cover a good amount of ground.

We were terrible last night. It did highlight just how much Ross Stewart contributes to the high press and the energy he has. Not going to panic, and I would have taken our results so far pre-season. I also think that Boro were more up for it than us and that we were intimidated a little. Sims (I dont think) cant play the lone striker role. OAU

well had a sleep and i still feel well p1ssed off at that performance.

i still feel that if we have only had one game plan that included stewart but no feckin idea in case/for when he gets injured then that is extremely short sighted by all concerned at the club.

i cannot understand how certain players just could not get into the game, loads of bad passing and control, hopefully it means we got quite a few 'bad games' out of the way in one and we wont see another game like that for a while.

don't think i have ever seen them play well against us yet they continue to sneak wins, they did well getting the ball forward to the lads overlapping and showed us how to cross a ball but they struggle to finish, had they played us off the park i would be the first to say so but that was two scrappy teams and one won with a scrappy goal.

they got the points, we lost by a single goal away from home while far from our best, we know we can play much better while they looked their normal selves to me...it wont destroy my season but i am more annoyed with the performance than the result.

as already said the sign of a decent team is how they bounce back and i have not lost faith in these lads.

We had an off night it happens. Think the criticism would be lesser had it not been Boro .
Couldn't give a **** who the opposition is, Boro are a nothing team. We had an off night because we had no Ross Stewart. The manager needs to earn his salary now by finding a way to play without him. Simms needs to do more off the ball

Sorry but, whilst I agree, a manager setting up a game plan the week leading up to a game. When one of those integral parts of the plan becomes unavailable with 10 minutes notice, what chance does the manager have when we don’t have another player of the same ilk? He’s been here a week and already 2 of his very important players have picked up injuries. One before a game. Not exactly sure what people expect him to be able to do in such a short time with next to no notice before a game

Ross Stewart being missing is absolutely huge, we all thought him missing a game would affect us but last night proved it. The ball didn't stick up top as much, there were times there back 4 had time on the ball that they wouldn't have got with him bearing down on them and he is a threat.

But last night I think the impact of him being missing was intensified due to the way it happened. Not only did it mean things at to be changed last minute, it would have given Boro a boost to hear he was not going to be playing and it certainly looked like our lads head had dropped for about the first 15 minutes or so.

We were poor but still could have come away with more had Pritch scored tbe goal he should have or their goal been deflected anywhere else. First game we have not been at the races and we still didn't get beating badly.

Also all Mowbrays fualt already some people suggesting he wanted to lose cause of his allegiance to Boro is embarrassing.

Hopefully good new about the two injured lads as they are our stars!

Especially when you consider he's had less than a week to get to know these players.

It is the same everytime we appoint a coach. There are always some who start with a negative perspective and will amplify that whenever something goes wrong. If he wasnt from Middlesborough it would be something else I reckon.

If you look at how long we give coaches generally we arent attractive really. It is something that needs to change really if we want to attract a so called better quality of manager next time...

Like say - he has time this week to figure it out. I wasn't expecting anything last night

Last night was a hard watch, losing RS just before kick off obviously threw a spanner in the works and Boro were well up for the match (their derby).
I still think that we could have done much better, it was just one of those days, sometimes one or two players have a bit of an off day, it happens, unfortunately last night at least 7 of our players had an off day and we saw the result. So we had a mare of a game but still only lost by one goal, everyone of us has seen much worse over the years, we will adapt, the talent is there and will show through. OAU.
