That’s great Wiz (genuinely) why aren’t we top of the league then? Because of our leaky defence that’s why! - sort that and we’re laughing.
Just pointing out that while you’re all creaming your pants over Nige the pundits and ‘experts’ were paying LJ similar compliments. Nothing’s been won yet.
The thing that a lot of people miss is, when SC left, we were enroute to an immediate return to L1 so we didn’t have a long list of good managers who would have been interested in the City job. Whatever your view on LJ, he brought City to the attention of a far wider audience than we had. The big error was after sacking LJ, the club didn’t cash in on our enhanced status, instead they appointed Holden, and we thought we had lost that opportunity to get a good manager in.
thats all games in the league we have 16 so have a couple of others but the table is a good positive that all in we are as good as they come .......... for now!
i like so many on here have not voiced an opinion for against NP .. COMMENTED ON SITUATIONS AND EVENTS THOUGH... well whilst in the back of mind i had doubts, about his methodology/ results/ attitude there does seem to be a bit of a change in the wind ..... whilst fixtures have not been hard so far, we have done what is needed. . . . the games after PNE WILL be a good yardstick as both these team are now "adjusted, or close to it" to set the lge on fire!?
58.8% shot accuracy: A look at the Bristol City player taking the league by storm https://footballleagueworld.co.uk/5...istol-city-player-taking-the-league-by-storm/
Having watched Alan McAnally on Sky Sports Saturday at City’s last 2 games, he has waxed lyrical about Conway. Even mentioning that there may be a chance he could represent Scotland. I maintain that NP has to manage his game time to guard against burn out, and I’m sure with all his experience he will. Semenyo isn’t exactly a bad replacement to bring in…
LJ put us on the map with stability in the Championship, before then, NP would never have given us a second glance
Really!!, You think we were stable when he took over ?. When he took the job he said part of the appeal was the challenge.
Calm your anti LJ rage AshtonRed and read the comment again The comment was, LJ made us stable. You are correct, he took over a horror show and turned us into play off contenders, albeit we never actually made it to that goal. LJ created the platform from which we can build.
He kept us in the 2nd tier of English football, longer than any manager since Alan Dicks..and comfortably with NO sign of relegation...it was as stable as we've ever been..
Quite right, he kept us in the Championship and out of the Premier because he was incapable of achieving promotion despite being given 4.5 years duration and the biggest ever investment and player signings, leading us to a £38.4m debt and under threat from FFP rules.
Still kept us in the play-off hunt most seasons he was with us. You can use the money to deflect the truth all you want, but its there for all to see.
And record breaking transfers to other clubs while he was here......Now I wonder why we didn't Premiership status.......oh yes, our best players being sold on causing massive disruption within the squad!! Just hope NP doesn't have to endure the same thing!!
I'm not deflecting, just stating the truth, he had the time, extended contract, he had massive financial backing, fabulous owner support and faith, in return,no honours, no promotion and a 5 place progress in 4.5 years.
Oh yes, you make an excellent point, he sold 4 or 5 players of quality for the survival of Bristol City FC in a tough financial world, that is 5 out of 65 he signed, what happened to the other 60 he agreed to sign? Oldham, Barnsley, Bristol City, Sunderland and maybe Hibernian, no honours, no promotions and no successes on LJ's CV.
All true, but you seem to think money buys success, and the reality is, while it was a lot for little ole Brizzle City, it was still relatively small fry compared to the teams that actually got promoted in that time. For me, that comes down to SL more than MA or LJ, he didn't gamble on getting a proven goalscorer in to fill the gap needed to make the playoff. The same damn mistake he made when Johnson senior was in the role, and that mistake cost us the chance of automatic promotion that season.
