Tell you what. I was in Woodhall Spa on Friday. I never knew there was a R&A golf headquarters/centre there. From the road the course looks mint.
Played it last Sept off whites 185 yds to clear the heather on the first, windy day made it with about 2 yds to spare - v expensive not really worth it IMO , some bunkers are 10’ deep - not kidding !!
playing one of those arnold palmer courses at the seaside (9 holes with obstacles, including moving windmill sails, everything red and green) got round in 17 and rung the bell for a free round at the end.
It’s when we all take a 8/9 iron and the buggers go with the sand wedge.. Ah!! there you are, con merchant !!!
Not a big lover of the other cott course, I’m sure it’s there where that hole you tee off and go over a ravine, i always fall short, don’t think it’s much more than 140/150 but plays a lot longer.. bugger
Me and Askew played Wychwood Park near Crewe last weekend. Off the 138 slope rated tees (they've started doing that instead of colours) which are effectively yellows, whites are 148. 200 yard carry to get to the fairway on a couple of them. Not a chance of finding it if you fell short Made it but very challenging. Really nice course though for a 2 day deal
