His team win 4-0 at Morecambe on Saturday with Will Grigg scoring 2. Now if he can get Grigg scoring goals he must be good. By the way there wasn't any MK fans in the standing area and they failed to sell out their seating allocation, so if Manning wants a bigger stage then step forward please.
I know nowt of TM’s coaching ability but his win rate even at Celtic isn’t that hot so based on that I’d prefer either of the other 2 mentioned. Mind he’ll get my backing if the club think he’s right for stability and won’t go down the road of insults.
Looking back on the managers we've had in the recent past....2 who stand out are Parkinson and Grayson who really didn't enjoy any kind of honeymoon period from the fans. They were dead men walking from the get go. I fear if we make a choice of a manager who is in this kind of bracket, he is on a hiding to nothing, which isn't fair on him, the fans or the club. We are in a decent position, keep the focus on moving forward with a young hungry, ambitious manager we all can rally around. After what our fans have gone through over the last 7/8 years, please don't screw this up.
And there's the nub. Who is more important? The Sporting Director, as I believe he is called, or the manager, coach or whatever he might be called? I'd say the coach. Everything at a club should be geared, and bend towards the first team, both now and later. These DOF and similar positions have nowhere near the risk level of a coach, and there are more of them. A lot more, it's a bloody good job. A coach should be paid more, while he is there. They done last long, especially here.
**** no way? Cheers for the insight. (Not sure if my post came over as a “he turned us down before so we shouldn’t want him” wasn’t meant that way) Ellis Shirt… Businessman extraordinaire!!
I'd rather Mowbray over Barry. I don't want some short-arse no mark who has zero experience in management taking over when what we really need is stability.
Nothing really, he's just short and would remind me of Lee Johnson I totally get that it's backward logic.
I wanted Manning or Barry but upon sleeping on it I think Mowbray is the right next appointment out of those seriously linked at least. This season needs to be all about stability and the next about pushing for playoffs. Once we are stable here we can try something different to get up. But appointing somebody with no experience now could be a disaster. My favourite would still be Mark Robins tho. But he signed a new contract in the summer so compensation will be massive (ironic this isn’t it)
I agree with this. I'd prefer Mowbray...maybe Dyche if we could get him. Don't particularly want Manning as he's untested at Championship level, and despite a good end to last season with MK Dons, they've not started this season particularly well. Definitely don't want Anthony Barry (not because of his height, that last post was just a joke), but because he's too much of a risk at a time when we shouldn't be taking risks. A steady hand is what we need.
