the issue for us is the club cant really comment more until its done if we announce he is leaving, or sacked etc, before he has signed there, they can probably try to claim no compensation, or indeed he could even claim it for being sacked and its deeply unusual for a club to announce a caretaker manager whilst also employing a manager ergo it really does need to be announced asap otherwise the limbo for us is ridiculous
With comments from previous clubs about AN having a good first year and then getting frustrated maybe it was a deliberate tactic on clubs part. 4 year contract makes it an expensive business to move on if things aren’t right. Isn’t the model that the first team coach is replaceable because they aren’t at the centre of everything in the club. Jury is out for me until we get a replacement in and they’ve had a few games to settle in. Here’s hoping.
Mate AN did that. That's it. We were short in the window. The manager carry on. AN transformed us massively. If it wasn't for AN and solely him we would be in league one.
We'll never know the full truth. But that sounds like he's leveraging an offer against us to the absolute maximum and we've called his bluff. If we had given him the 4 years, but not the control over transfers, he'd have been back in the next window or the next time another club showed interest to get control. The "not backing him in the transfer market" is vague though and can be taken different ways. We've spent money and brought in 7 players with 3/4 still to come. To put that in context, people started talking about how ridiculous it is bringing in so many players when Forest had signed about 13. If it's about numbers, then he shouldn't be kicking off until the window has closed really. It's probably more that we're not as willing to get him the experienced players he wants or maybe players to play in a different way. I can understand a lot of those frustrations, but again, it's all stuff he should have been aware of up front. Sustainable football and the model would have been agreed upon in his interview.
I get the impression that this has been brewing since our promotion. First half decent championship club who sacks their manager? Offski! Probably a well known secret amongst clubs that he would be available to whoever pulled the trigger first. Hopefully this means that we are more than halfway near to knowing who his replacement is. If we have been totally gazumped and have no ideas, then I'll be worried.
Sorry mate, I'm maybe being a bit thick here, are you saying that AN will be announced tonight at Stoke or that our new man may be unveiled?
I can not take that. Honestly. I really can not. I am astounded that Neil even had them around. Proc is a sound lad but lord , he is so out of his depth at that level. And Ken Dodd , even worse.
I dont think we can be blamed for not having a replacement literally ready to go. We should have a list of course. but for a start most southern based managers wouldn't have been able to drive up yet
I just don’t buy into this. AN signed none of the players who helped us to promotion, he’s a cracking manager but clearly wanted more than what he signed up for so for me the blame for this rests with him
The process helped. That's fine. But the team got promoted by employing an experienced manager who took a pragmatic approach to team selection and tactics. Process does not do that. The process should never be an end in itself and any business which takes that view will perish. But the manager is by far the most important man at any club, and here that's not how it looks at all.
I wonder if Neil Critchley is regretting giving up first team management to be Gerrard's assistant...
I really dislike the way KS comes across, he is like LJ with the buzzwords and not being able to tweak the strategy when its needed but I do like the way we are going but I do understand why people don’t
No one knows. But any clause like that could only be a reflection of the rolling nature . " Okay, you don't rate me, I'd like to be able to talk to others if a chance comes"
