Makes me wonder what you would say if(not saying they didnt)the Russians were involved in intel killing our troops in iraq and Afghanistan.....what would you think that would constitute as, a declaration of war maybe

Putin has made several comments about wanting to restore the glory of Russia. His generals have made comments about Putin wanting to bring back the USSR days.

He has invaded and taken land from Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova during his presidency. (Chechnya too)

Of course he's trying to expand his empire. The circumstances are different but this is empire building in Europe the same way Hitler and Napoleon tried. One nation at a time. He's just had to tread a little more carefully this time because of our globalized age. He won't stop until he loses or dies.

There's no doubt he wants to finish what he started in Moldova. If he takes Ukraine he's got that land route to Moldova for a full invasion. War with Moldova could very easily bring in Romania since Romania and Moldova consider themselves one people. Romania is in NATO. Bang. WWIII a very possible outcome of Russia winning in Ukraine.

Even if he doesn't take Moldova next. He's threatened Finland. Russia historically believes Finland should belong to them and has invaded Finland once already in the last century.

If he wins in Ukraine before Finland officially joins NATO, they might be next too... Would take balls but each of Putin's conquests has been ballsier than the one before it. There's a very big chance an invasion of Finland could be NATO's "Poland moment". WWIII.

It's very important he either loses in Ukraine or only gets a very pyrrhic victory that puts Russia against war for a long time (at least until Putin is gone).

Boots refers to combat boots. All other Americans wear "sneakers". :bandit:

They only have trainers on the ground. <ok>



That said, wouldn't surprise me if the West has one or two commandoes or intelligence type near the front lines to give more direct input and more direct communication. If there were full military units down there on the front lines, Russia would know and Russia would escalate things.

6 months on from the start of the Ukraine War, I really don't see what the end game is here.

Russia's never going to take over the whole country and they're not going to withdraw from the areas they've captured. Russia may want to stop after capturing the Donbas but Ukrainians won't let them. Ukraine's never going to stop the fighting until they recapture the areas they've lost which isn't going to happen. And no chance of a negotiated solution for the same reasons. Seems endless this.

The bombing entering Russia territory will only lessen the Russian public's support for the war.

It's not a nice idea, but Ukraine should really go for attacks around Moscow and St Petersburg.

Those are Russia in truth, upsetting those cities will have a massive impact.

Not keen on escalating the war. Opens up a whole new can of worms including with those arming Ukraine. And how Russia will view it.

Russia have already played their hand though, they've been targeting primarily civilian targets since day one and then cut off oil to the EU as a second ultimatum.

Russia drew a line in the sand when they said that no one is allowed in any way to intervene in this conflict, the following weeks NATO intervened and Russia did nothing.
It said any further NATO members would be a clear sign of aggression and there would be consequences, Russia did nothing.
Russia said the sending of long range weapons to the Ukrainian military would be seen as direct involvement. They did nothing.
Ukraine has been bombarding inside Russian territory and now a car bombing happened right outside the capital and Russia has done nothing.

I say go at them.
