At the risk of getting splinters in my butt, I'm kind of in agreement with most of you......
I DO think Watters will eventually come good. He showed at MKD and in pre-season he knows where to be on the pitch to score... it's just a question of how long can we wait before it becomes almost cruel to leave him in? He IS making some good runs now and getting into positions, he does just need that stroke of luck somewhere.
I do however also agree that his closing/pressing/general work rate don't look good, especially when compared with the likes of Harris who you know will really annoy defenders and goalkeepers with his closing down. Likewise some of Watter's all round game needs development if he's playing the lone striker role. That one point in the Wurzle game where Sawyers picked up a really good position around the edge of the box, wanted Watter's to come short to bounce it off him and thus get a really good shooting opportunity went to waste as Watter's instinct was to turn towards goal...
That could be inexperience or just a lack of game understanding. Both should be fixable.
I don't think Harris is really much better than Watters overall, likewise Zac Davies (though he is another slightly different kind if player).
Etete needs a bit of a run in the team to get sharper and build strength, but being so young and playing at this level for the first time in his career will also need some serious time to acclimiatise.
And Hilts has just beaten me to it. Although it probably would slow us down a little going forward, I think it may well be worth a punt putting Colwill up top for a few games. He has very good feet and can create space for himself, and has shown in the past an eye for goal with a calmness about his finishing....
I can imagine him, Sawyers, O'Dowda and Ojo/Philogene all linking and rotating rather nicely in a poor mans Man City/False 9 kind of way just due to their natural ability and composure on the ball.

I admire your ongoing positivity guys but the 4 we have to chose from up top, for me, won't cut it although Etete has to be given some time. Harris, like Davies, can fill a secondary role but Watters is no better than average Division 1.

Patience is a virtue, but there are 46 games and we've had 5 of them now without the slightest hint that we have sufficient striking power on board.
There are cries of "goals from all over the park" and I've said it myself, but without strength up front to holdup and lay off, even that won't happen.
Proven goalscorer or experienced frontman to bring others into play - it doesn't matter, but without such an addition to the sqaud, we'll drop points we could have won.
To have one project is fine (Watters) but as a replacement only to be able to call on a kid from Spurs whom to me looks like a fish out of water, or Harris and Davies neither of whom are out and out strikers is not fine. Harris has 1 goal since December and so city could do worse than get Hugill back as he can hold up the ball, can finish and has more experience at this level.
It wouldn’t be so much of a concern if the midfielders or defenders were scoring but they’re not.
SM has to act decisively.
Well, Rhys Healey definitely isn't one we can bring back now... Looks like he's done his knee ligaments 
So realistically, who is out there that could fill the void that some of us thinks needs filling?

Vydra done his cruciate near the end of last season. Not fit for months.

I'm genuinely at a loss to know who we could bring in if we are trying to. Unless there is another gem from abroad or we take another punt on a lower division player again, but then we run the risk of someone in the same boat to Watters surely??
How about Ken Zahore??? Could we get him firing again?? (Personally I doubt it).

I'm sure there are players out there at other clubs with a point to prove. Maybe just not getting game time because of the depth of their respective club's squads. It's up to Morison and his backroom squad to find them and for the club (Tan) to fund it.
I don't think we'll be in any trouble this season, but it could make the difference between spending the season in mid table obscurity or a genuine top 6 challenge. Last season, just 10 points was the difference between 12th and the playoffs - a decent scorer up front could earn those points and bridge that gap.

I'm hearing Hugill again. With Sargant, Pukki and now Idah back from injury, there's unlikely to be a place for him up front at Norwich.

Thing about Hugill is whilst yes he’s experienced and scores a few, he’s not really a forward suiting our (supposed) new style of play. He likes high balls from the keeper to hold up but that’s alien to SM’s strategy.
He may not be the ideal ball playing choice but he'd provide something we haven't got up front right now - and thats guts.
He wouldn't get outmuscled off the ball very often and that would be a welcome addition to our present inneffective powder puff front line.

And useful in getting on to crosses from the byeline. We actually have people who can do that now.
In addition the less experienced front players can learn from him.

Was it just me who heard it but was he booed when he came on as a sub for Norwich last month? I was very surprised as he gave 100% when here on loan
Norwich fans are infatuated with Pukki. Since playing Sargant up top instead of out wide, he's become the new messiah. Young Idah has always showed promise and will be automatic third choice now he's back after injury. With those three available, the Carrow mob don't want Hugill on the pitch.
There was polite applause around me in the Ninian but I thought I heard a couple of boos too...

Interesting that when Farke bought him off West Ham, he said he wanted him at the club as much as on the pitch. Apparently he's a top man motivationally in the dressing room encouraging younger players.
That's surely worth a few bob on a loan fee and wages with the way our current squad is set up. He's out of contract with Norwich at the end of the season so a no brainer for me.
