I’m more concerned about the politicians getting away with giving contracts worth billions to friends, families and donors. Some of which had no experience in the industry they were given contracts in, some of which didn’t provide the services and equipment yet still got paid, some which provided equipment that wasn’t fit for purpose and some which combines a number of the above.

I’m more concerned about the billions spent on a track and trace system that wasn’t fit for purpose and other nations that have populations that far exceed the U.K.s did for a fraction of the cost, who was that given to?? Oh yes… all the ppe that billions were spent on that ended up in a bonfire, the **** load that were spent on a briefing room that was barely used, the hundred mill that was paid for a paint job on a plane, HS2 ****ups.. **** me the list is endless, including wondering where all the tax goes for the weapons companies pay that provide weapons to the countries that bomb the **** out of their people, the regimes who oppress their people.

if all that was addressed and a whole lot more I might then get upset about those pesky foreigners that seem to top your list.
Don't have a problem with pesky foreigners
Do have a problem with illegal ones
Nice that you don't care who is sneaking into the uk

Sorry Will, but that’s not an answer. I think we all share your outrage over these issues and would like the full truth to come out so there can be consequences. You’re picking Kiwi up on his comments about illegal immigration but, when challenged for your own position, deflect to other issues.

I must say that is a jolly good repellant ole chap.

That may work well for you lot over there but here in Oz, we call them, 'Bondi Cigars', being they pump the **** straight out the sewage pipes to those who pay big bucks to flock to our shores in the Eastern suburbs of Sydney, legally.

The secret is, if want to deter them, tell em' its ****, if you want to attract them and charge big bucks............ they think its good ****!
Like mudpacks, good for the skin, soothing, etc.
Here's living proof............. 99% tourist.

Pump it straight out at the northern point, the waves bring it all back in!
Really good ****.
No locals swim at Bondi................

The vast majority of those crossing in small boats are genuine asylum seekers - 77% have their asylum claims upheld. They are only 'illegal' because they have come here by illegal means and this is because there are no legal means for them to get here to make their applications, or for them to apply from overseas.

Does that make it right then?

How many asylum seekers do you think we should welcome in each year?

At least enough to replace the European workers that we've kicked out or frightened off after Brexit. There's a shortage of workers in many sectors, not least the NHS and Care Homes. We should welcome people who want to come here and work.

I wonder if there’s anyway of finding out the demographics of those illegal immigrants that have been allowed to stay and what they are doing now?

Our laws are so weak, we'd have millions of men destroying their identity papers and pretending to be child asylum seekers

We have to leave the ECHR and replace it with our own human rights act

You really do think the whole world wants to come and live here. It doesn't.

Still, it's kind or ironic that legal immigration has increased since we 'took back control' via Brexit, with nasty brown people replacing white Europeans. That's not what the racists voted for.

Im just saying there are way more important issues that would help a lot more. People in power abuse it to rip off the public for their own profit, then point at foreigners to blame for the ****e they are a big part of.. this pretty much sums it up perfectly

There's a diaspora coming from the third world. Illegal migrant numbers are rising massively year on year. Nothing the race baiters claim changes that fact. The only Brexit relevance is insufficient has been done by this government to repeal and enact laws to deal with this crisis. Truss will stand or fall on this issue.

I know what you’re saying, Will, but it’s not answering the question. I happen to think law & order and getting the rozzers back on the beat is more important than illegal immigration, but I’m willing to discuss any topic.

I don’t think you’ll find anybody on here that’s not incensed about the money spaffed away, some of it corruptly, during the pandemic and at other times.

Funnily enough, I’m told a large number of ‘nasty brown people’ voted for Brexit because they were appalled at the ease by which some immigrants were welcomed to these shores and lavished with benefits when they had to begin with next to nothing.

I believe a number of Brexit voters wanted the UK to be able to take in more immigrants from the Commonwealth and elsewhere in a targeted way so that more people with the skills needed could be enticed here. It’s a great failing of this government, no doubt exacerbated by the pandemic, that this has not happened in any meaningful way.

Illegal immigrants cannot claim benefits in the UK. The UK government, in response to a petition urging it to “Stop all benefits to illegal immigrants completely”, said in 2015: “Illegal immigrants and failed asylum seekers are not entitled to, and do not get, benefits from the UK’s welfare system".

I'm not sure what skills are needed to pick fruit, but we now invite people from Indonesia, Nepal, Vietnam, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.to come and do it. We've stopped willing people on our doorstep coming in to pick our fruit and replaced them with people from 7,000 miles away.

I can see the advert:

"Come to sunny UK. Just pay organised crime to break our laws and we'll collect you from the Channel, pay a fortune to put you up in hotels and then give you a job. Tell your friends to come. Funding organised crime pays in the UK."
