One for the future do we think? Not played a lot of football thus far. If he is for the 1st team then I hope he's rapid In an ideal world I'd be buying a Centre Half, Central midfielder, Winger and striker, then selling or loaning Winchester, Diamond, Matete & Dajaku
Am hoping Huggins will be back and show the same form he did at start of last season, but yeah 2 CMs would be good. Can't believe I'm saying this, but if Evans gets injured we are ****ed. He was outstanding on Saturday
By the sound of it Huggins might not be back until the new year. It will be too much to ask a player to hit the ground running after being out for so long.
Ah fair enough. Suppose it depends on what formation we are playing - Gooch can do a good job at RWB (again, thought he was excellent on Sat) but if we are playing a back 4 then we absolutely need a RB. Not convinced Hume is anywhere near ready - he looks so lightweight on Weds and not sure Neil fancies Winchester at all
Agree about Evans,he's been a different player since AN's been there. However,a strong, combative central midfielder is a priority,as is another striker imo. This Costa Rican lad...if there's anything in it,.....must be for the future. As for right back, I think they'll stick with Gooch and Hume for the time being, with O9 and Winchester as stand ins, till Huggins is fit. Depends on Ballard's injury,.....it keeps happening to us!..... we may not see him again till earliest January,so Wright,Alese and O9 will have to cover.
I'm more cautious...I have some faith in the recruitment team.and having finances to carry out the plan.
Costa Rica's youngest ever competitive international. Know nothing about him (obviously), but he's the kind of signing that you love to see.
I’m Not saying we haven’t got money just that we’ll take cheaper risks not sign much proven championship quality ahead of competition
Like you say, probably one for the future. Flog for a profit later down the line. We need some experience in aswell.
Surely he can't be first team ready though? I haven't seen him but playing against some of these Championship players, with all their skill, power and gamesmanship tricks,in front of 38000 atmosphere at the SoL, is a million miles from his experience so far.
doubt he's first team ready no. but could be one of those "wild cards" for later on in the season to change games? or we may never see him
I don't believe the club are ignoring experienced players and only looking to bring in 'sell on' younger players. We've already signed players like Pritchard, Evans, Batth for example. We've seen previously what happens when you bring in too many experienced but jaded players like Rodwell so there has to be caution imo.
Agree. I'm very happy with the recruitment. There are only two players in the squad over 30, both of whom are valuable assets on the pitch, but both of whose contracts expire next June. The days of us signings the Rodwells of this world appear to be long gone!
So many Championship sides are in financial trouble yet 'sustainability' isn't a popular word. That's because we all want action and success now. Sadly actions don't always bring success as Derby and others have discovered. I'd love promotion but not at all cost. I'm happy that, despite a few teething troubles, KLD is sorting the club out from top to bottom. If he'd made the club shop and ticketing world class, but we were still in L1, people would be talking about priorities and that's fair enough. We're not perfect but we're miles better than we recently were.
o9 is more than capable at right back actually think thats been his best position for us since he came here
