My garden has it's boundary right infront of a fairway bunker, so I have an endless supply of golf balls.
Agree about proV1s , just don't work for me, probably a mental thing after stocking the bag one day with them and playing crap.
Love Bridgestone and taylor made, also callaway and srixon.
90% of the balls I get are good quality, but it does surprise me that some people play with balls that are chipped or dirty.

Este makes a living selling balls on the courses by the plastic bag full. All his wares on the bonnet of his Toyota <laugh><laugh>

Never tried golf. Was bad enough at pitch 'n' putt. Used to go to Hogganfield Loch on the outskirts of Glasgow with my Dad. Very competitive, & only a stroke in it on the 18th, 205-204 or thereabouts. Yup, crap players of the highest order!

Oddly enough, they only had LH clubs left. I played my best ever & nearly got my score down to double figures. Probably down to having to really concentrate with the LH clubs. I took ages & that was the first time ever there was a queue behind us, with much Glaswegian humour (aka abuse).

Remember playing p&p in Warwick as a way to get to know my new colleagues. My pal Bill, an avid golfer joined us one evening. Our boss teed off first, launching an excocet about 6" off the ground. Then another pal shanked his tee into the woods. We were all falling about laughing, but Bill was really shocked that we could play & ignore all the golfing etiquettes. It was always about putting your opponents off, as we were all shiite - even Bill got in on the act once he realised that it could be fun with this approach. Just to give you an idea of my opponents - I actually won a few times!

I was a squash player when I was younger, beginners always wanted to play yellow dot when they would have had a much better game with blue or red dot… bouncier balls.

now I play golf with people who top a £4 golf ball into the lake when they could top a £1 golf ball into the lake… and they certainly can’t tell the difference on the shots they don’t hit in the lake.

    Human nature.

I know what you mean about the squash balls, used to play when younger and fitter!
On the second point, you don't need a 500 quid driver to slam the ball into the lake, but they all have one.
And they all go to the range to smash the driver, when time would be better spent in the short game and putting.

Very true este. My club has a brilliant short game practice area. It’s always empty. At least I think it’s always empty… I’m too busy smacking my driver as hard as I can at the range to notice <laugh><laugh>

So how are we all feeling about Rodders so far this season? Been our best player overall through the last 2 or 3 friendlies and couple of league games. 7 goals in his last 5 games, not a bad return. He and Aaronson the stand out players, but can Rodrigo keep it up because he find himself double teamed by some opposition now. Will we buy a striker now that Bamford broke down again or will Jesse move Rodders up top

We need a first choice striker to replace Bamford. He was bought very cheap (7 million?). He would make a great bench warmer as joffy is nowhere near ready for the prem. Time to show some intent with a statement signing. Rodrigo has done well and was let down by marsch not using the subs.

The next question is Struijk, is he actually doing a job at LB. Hes getting forward yes but I question his decision making when he gets up the pitch and his crosses not finding a target. He did ok against Wolves but found out more yesterday against a pacey Walker-Peters. So will he be good enough at LB or should we just splash the cash

Window is open there are LBs and Strikers available who could fit the profile Marsch wants. Lets give him all the tools he needs and not gamble again

We’ve finally found a system and position that suits him, when he gets doubled up on that means one of the others will have space, credit to Jesse for that.

We need to decide on James or Harrison, both are best suited wide left, anywhere else on the field it feels a waste.

I’ve no idea what funds we have but we need a striker, I’d still jump at the chance of Watkins if he really is available, he’d fit in perfect up front. We have to be realistic in who we could tempt, if we have £30m available part of me feels sell Harrison or James and spend £60m on a striker. Truth is we can’t attract one in that bracket.

Struijk is not a left back. Yesterday we had two square pegs in round holes and I think it was part of the reason it cost us two points. Jesse surely sees Dallas and Firpo as the options there, I kind of understand not spending money on another LB.

Personally if the funds were there I’d sign one but that’s because I don’t want to see a fit again Dallas starting every game there and Firpo warming the bench. For me an upgrade on Firpo and Dallas as the utility man on the bench. Saying that I’d wrote Rodrigo off and he’s better under Jesse but you have to fear Firpo is made of sugar and crackers

James wouldn't be missed, mainly because he is unfairly shoehorned up front and not as productive as Harrison.

Struijk should only be an emergency left back when your first two choices are crocked/suspended. It’s not really fair on him either. You could see his confidence was shot last year.. he’s unlikely to get it back playing left back.

so yes we need left back.

re rod… he’ll annoy people because he tries stuff that doesn’t come off - but that’s part of the gig for attacking players. All’s forgiven when you find the net. His run to the near post for the first yesterday was really good… to give Jack a target.

Clearly the management team see him as a striking option as well as a 10, so maybe that’s why they’re relaxed on the striker issue. Personally, I still think we need another. Marsch himself says his style of play is brutal on strikers… and our others are made of China.

Great header for the first goal, that could have been his all day long

Struijk should be fighting for one of the CB positions and I truly believe there's at least on slot for the taking this season as we haven't found our best combo. Unfair to judge him as a left back as he quite clearly isn't one. Not spending on a LB and a striker says to me we haven't learnt anything from last term and staying up on the very last day.

Protect your investment and put your hand in your pocket radz

The Watkins story is the usual load of crap. He’s on almost 4m a year with villa. That’s a long way outside the salary we can afford

My gripe with Harrison is he always plays he’s favoured position, he always loses confidence and goes to **** for at least a dozen games or more every season

He’s had two decent games, he’ll screw up soon get subbed and he’ll do his usual 6 games on the bounce of looking like a league one player.

I’d like to judge that position after James being given an extended run in it, I can’t help feel James would have prevented that equaliser.

Saying that I’m happy for either to go if it means having funds to strengthen, I feel we shouldn’t have to though as enough have already exited

    £44k a week
    https://salarysport.com/football/player/ollie-watkins/

75k a week is less than Rodrigo who is on £100k a week so even if it really is almost £4m a year it’s not outside our scope

Yeah I take your point James is always out of position but Harrison has earnt that spot with his form under Jesse, he could have done much, much better for the goal yesterday completely agree.

James just hasn't really delivered at all I don't think. I love the way he puts it about and I'm sure there's a player in there but we need a player right now with that price tag <ok>

Signed a new contract this year and most sites have his salary at 3.9 m a year. Son in law is a big villa fan who keeps me in the loop with them. He’s not a Watkins fan though
