Yeah guess so, plus that picture is a bit deceiving, because it's taken from a high angle, whereas there is a wall that surrounds it, to give you some perspective of the size of it below. Think I'm right in saying, go the right side of it you are on the Rhine, go the left side you got the Mosel, some nice river spots for food and drink up on the Mosel or is it spelt Moselle, fook knows....

As a non-believer, it certainly seems that way from my perspective too...

But trying to see things through their shoes, if God really is the all-powerful, all jealous bully they believe him to be, that sends people to eternal hell for minor transgressions you can see why they would be so panicky about upsetting the God-farher. Heaven for their soles is an offer you can't refuse.

He knew exactly what he was doing and what would happen but he made the choice.

Because he wanted to be controversial and sell books. Then spent decades crying about it.

He wrote a book that basically criticised Islam pretty strongly.

That's literally the basics and I'll I know, someone who gives a **** about such a topic will be able to help better.

Being a dumb **** made him far richer than he would have been and he's going to be remembered as an author for centuries now rather than immediately lost to time.

If he survives this, it might be a small price to pay for such fame and immortality.

I do enjoy reading. Most of the time I just read one chapter each night. My concentration starts to go after that. It can take me a good couple month to read one book.

I don't know what he wrote but reading between the lines he dared to have an opinion on religion/Islam.

I do try to look at from their perspective. I can accept it gives them peace, happiness and everything in between. I'll always think they're childish when it comes to getting upset about it. They're grown men being upset about another man they've never met being called bad names.

Only reason I ask is I generally look at things from the opposite side, how would I feel if whatever he said, offended my beliefs. Although I don't actually have religious beliefs, I'm always conscious that my parents were and I'm the age, that as a youngster that I went to a CofE school and also had to attend Sunday school, probably to give my mum some peace.

Just looked it up, Salman is from a Muslim background, but is now an Atheist.

Well, he's an Indian immigrant to Britain, so most likely Hindi or Muslim, if anything. I've not read Satanic Verses, but I have read another story of his, that was so boring I don't remember anything about it. I also saw a play adapted from one of his books once which was also pretty boring.

Honestly, I'm surprised anyone stayed focused reading his book long enough to get offended.
