Just googled after you said, got done in the land of the free, the good ole usofa.

 

Yeah. Bit strange a stabbing over here. Our nutters usually carry guns not knives.

 

He's normally crowded by security. Doesn't seem Iike it was the case this time.

Stabbed over words in a book. Oversensitive cnuts.

 

People have done a lot of dumb **** over the words in a book they barely follow.

 

****ers. Grown men being upset and angry over religion is probably one of the most pathetic things on Earth.

 

That looks incredible. First picture doesn't do it justice, that's huge!

 

As a non-believer, it certainly seems that way from my perspective too...

But trying to see things through their shoes, if God really is the all-powerful, all jealous bully they believe him to be, that sends people to eternal hell for minor transgressions you can see why they would be so panicky about upsetting the God-farher. Heaven for their soles is an offer you can't refuse.

 

I've no idea what he ever wrote, other than knowing he upset a lot of people.

I don't read at the best of times, so he would have been non existent on my priorities of reading material.

 

I don't condone what's happened but Salman's been done for being a dumb ****, little else.

He knew exactly what he was doing and what would happen but he made the choice.

Because he wanted to be controversial and sell books. Then spent decades crying about it.

 

He wrote a book that basically criticised Islam pretty strongly.

That's literally the basics and I'll I know, someone who gives a **** about such a topic will be able to help better.

 

Was he a dumb ****? How many of us would have heard about him if it wasn't for the Satanic verses?

Being a dumb **** made him far richer than he would have been and he's going to be remembered as an author for centuries now rather than immediately lost to time.

If he survives this, it might be a small price to pay for such fame and immortality.

I do enjoy reading. Most of the time I just read one chapter each night. My concentration starts to go after that. It can take me a good couple month to read one book.

I don't know what he wrote but reading between the lines he dared to have an opinion on religion/Islam.

 

I do try to look at from their perspective. I can accept it gives them peace, happiness and everything in between. I'll always think they're childish when it comes to getting upset about it. They're grown men being upset about another man they've never met being called bad names.

 

Do we know what his religion is?

Only reason I ask is I generally look at things from the opposite side, how would I feel if whatever he said, offended my beliefs. Although I don't actually have religious beliefs, I'm always conscious that my parents were and I'm the age, that as a youngster that I went to a CofE school and also had to attend Sunday school, probably to give my mum some peace.

 

Just looked it up, Salman is from a Muslim background, but is now an Atheist.

 

Have you listened to him since? It cost him his freedom for almost 30 years and he was bitter as fck about it. If that's the price worth paying then yeh he made lots of money, but personally I don't think so.

 

Well, he's an Indian immigrant to Britain, so most likely Hindi or Muslim, if anything. I've not read Satanic Verses, but I have read another story of his, that was so boring I don't remember anything about it. I also saw a play adapted from one of his books once which was also pretty boring.

Honestly, I'm surprised anyone stayed focused reading his book long enough to get offended.

It's the reason I don't read books, concentration.

 

I'd be a bit bitter if my book caused the Ayatollah of RockaRolla Sayyid Ruhollah Musavi Khomeini peace be upon him, to call for my assassination.

I mean, have they got so little to do over there in Iran?

 

What I don't get, is why has no one ever taken a shot or stab at Blair, strange world.
