Out of our rivals, who’s had the best window so far? If Leeds get Sarr and Joao Pedro from Watford, it’s them for me. Still don’t get how Everton can spend so much money when they are under close watch on FFP? If they say get Adams from us, they would have spent all Richarlison money and given some big wages on free transfers and loans. Sorry, but bored this morning so was just having a closer look at the business done, mainly by the clubs expected to be in bottom 10.
You would hope so. If the rumours of Tella going on loan are true, it does leave us very light up top. Think we need to find a couple of players with a bit of pace, especially if Ralph is going to persist with 5 at the back.
Interesting that we are the 8th highest (net) spenders and one of just 3 clubs to raise £0 from player sales. I really hope that changes soon as I can't imagine us spending much more without bringing in a modest amount in sales but more importantly reducing the wage bill significantly.
The wage bill is more the issue I think than raising funds from player sales. SR aren't short of money are obviously investing in the club. But they're not Newcastle rich so they need the wages level to be sustainable.
Wage bill is no where near as bad as it was a couple of seasons ago. We have also got rid of 2 of the top earners this summer in Forster and Long.
The reaction of fans online, and indeed in the room, says otherwise. Some of the comments madr were unwise, I think they've now realised how upset and annoyed fans are in general, and now the club are trying to deflect from that.
Well that means hardly anything TBH. The world of Twitter and Facebook is full of idiots. And it's a bit silly to make any sort of judgement after 1 game this season and we're still not done signing players. I understand the end to last season is still fresh on everyone's minds (including mine) but that's gone. People are panicking about selling Adams and not replacing him. That isn't going to happen. If we sell him, we'll replace him.
I know this isn’t 100% accurate but fairly close. What we’ve bought in so far this season has probably eaten up FF and Long’s wages, so would put our salaries around the £60 million mark which should be very doable in the premier league. Think our wage bill was around £15-£20 million more over the past several seasons, so club have done pretty well in reducing that.
