I agree with you but the key thing for me is we have no idea how much money is left. If the question was keep with the current squad as we can’t sell anyone else and there’s no money left or sell Che and invest the 20m which would you pick?

Obviously completely hypothetical as we don’t know if there is a budget left or not

It would be catastrophic to not sign a new striker (of sufficient quality), regardless of whether Che stays or goes.

I guess you rate Che more than I do. But I really don't see Che as the difference between survival or relegation this season. Che might be the best we have, but that doesn't mean he's good enough. If this squad is what we have in four weeks time, I wouldn't be confident of our survival chances.

Right now he is the difference between relegation or not. 100%. Unequivocally. He’s our only premier league level striker.

If we sign a new striker they should come in and challenge Che or play alongside him. We shouldn’t be getting rid of one of our only genuine PL level players.

In answer to the question posed.. sell che and have 20 million or not.. I’d keep him. Better the devil you know, and it will be difficult to bring in a better player than him for 20mil anyway in this market. I’d keep him and bring in a loaner

The question was keep him and bring in nobody as even loans will cost some sort of fee

Having thought back though it sounds like we have money for a striker regardless of Adams staying or going, sure Hassenhuttl said as much in an interview that there was a large amount set aside for a striker.

Also I seem to to recall Birmingham have a big sell on % on Adams too, something like 40%, so we would lose a fair bit to them if we sold him.

I would hope so. It’s been a glaring hole in our side, especially with Broja going.

If we are going to sell anyone it needs to be Adam Armstrong. I’m sure we could con a championship side into paying 10mil for him

I’d take Ings back now for £15M +extras. No hard feelings from me; we’re desperate for goals.

I really want him. If only because he has a ready made song.

:emoticon-0159-music Zagadou-doo-doo, push pineapple, shake the tree
    Zagadou-doo-doo, push pineapple, grind coffee
To the left, to the right, jump up and down and to the knees
Come and dance every night, sing with a hula melody :emoticon-0159-music

I just spent 10 minutes looking up the history of Agadoo. I’ll never get those minutes back, so thanks.

Sometimes it was his first team selection that baffled me -but he was a very good manager and probably shouldn’t have been sacked at the time.

I'm far from relaxed at the idea. I'm thinking he wants out rather than we are looking to sell.

After so many years of anger and despair, at watching any half decent players up sticks and move to the first club that came knocking, that we haven’t had any players go, this transfer window, speaks volumes about the quality of the squad.
It’s going to be a tough season.
Discounting Fraser as he had run his contract down to leave,

Sorry but I disagree hugely here. Che has already proven he's good enough in his time here. Just because he doesn't score a shed load it doesn't mean he's not good enough for a PL side, his all round play is excellent and something we miss hugely when he's not playing. I'd actually argue that other PL teams wanting to purchase him shows that he's generally regarded as a top flight player.

Now that's not to say he's going to save us on his own, but I'd say he's as close to a guarantee of 7-10 goals (and that shouldn't be sniffed at in a team that doesn't score a lot of goals) as we'll get as our business so far indicates we're not going to get anybody proven. He's also got invaluable experience which could really help along the likes of Mara.

In a normal Summer then I'd maybe feel differently if a big offer came in, but we've already taken a lot of risks/gambles and I think this would be one too far and we have to maintain some semblance of stability.

Way I see it we currently need 1 of our 2 striker signings to definitely work out and almost hit the ground running or we're ****ed. If we sell Che then that becomes 2/3 which is a lot to expect when we're mainly signing young and experienced players.

I take your point regarding 4-3-3 but Ralph has never played that formation in his time here as far as I can recall and almost always (the odd 4-1-4-1 excluded) played with two strikers so I can't see us going into the season with just three in the squad, especially given one is AA who is about as useful as a post box.

Sure it’s no great shock to anyone at this point, but The Athletic this morning reporting that Saints are looking to move Ché Adams.

I'm fine with us selling Che IF we get good money for him - 18-20mill and we sign 2 strikers.

Yep I do,the football was better, and we used to try and out score the opposition not try and keep the score down with Ralph..Ralph is in last chance saloon now,he kept saying he never had money to spend only when we sold first, the owner has backed him,so now he has to deliver. One win since March,if we are still in that bottom three end of September he’s gotta go
